Much cheaper to use the Dolmus busses than the Taxis when in Turkey. Hope that helps.

4:35 yes, we turks are very clean, hygiene is a lot to us, any city will have someone cleaning the bus stops and sweeping streets every couple days but it’s not all about hygiene, it’s about a clean image for our tourists!

We also started our Turkey travel in Bodrum. We met a couple of Aussie girls in Greece who had Turkish boyfriends from Bodrum . A long story made short , l paid for the Teas for the 6 of us which somehow offended the men and so we HAD TO have dinner with them !! lt turned out that l unknowingly paid more than the teas were worth .... l just put down some cash for what l thought would cover it .... anyway we had a huge night out at what we found out later to be their own restaurant and we had the most amazing dinner and got quite drunk on Raki ..... great stuff ! ... it was a amazing weekend ... l love TURKEY ....oh , and Spain

another thing about turkiye is we are still a developing-ish company so there will be a lot of road construction, skyscraper construction etc so be weary of that if your not going to an already known touristy place, like bodrum.

I finally got caught up with all your videos since you made your trip back home and I can't wait to see more of Turkey! It's been a while since you guys started using a "proper" camera - what would you say is the biggest downside to filming with it vs your phones? And what do you like best about filming on a camera? :)
@OnePackWanderers
@OnePackWanderers 2 жыл бұрын
Ooh, good question! With the proper camera, advantages would be color accuracy, low-light, and audio. The last two especially. There were times with the iPhones where we just couldn't film at all because it was so dark, or there was too much ambient noise. Those situations are really rare with the Sony! Cons would definitely be its size and weight. It's huge, and with all the stuff it weighs about 5lbs. It attracts a ton of attention, which is sometimes not great either 😅

The flaky peanut butter finger pastry is probably a baklava. A crusty sweet syrup pastry filled with nuts and spices. A typical Turkish treat. Delicious and very addictive. Enjoy

Hi guys, I had a question: I’m three weeks into my retirement and I’m currently in Thailand. I have a budget tracker and I have found that my “local transportation” category is my most expensive outlay. That includes: bike hire, ferries, trains, buses, MRT etc. I haven’t used bolt, grab, tuk tuks or any form of taxis so I’m not splashing the cash. I noticed that you guys aren’t exactly slow travellers so was wondering whether your transport category takes a hit? By the way, since I have started travelling I have uploaded a FB and insta post each day with a little description of the pictures and it’s becoming a headache already so mega applause for uploading fully edited videos consistently for such a long time already. 👏 I believe I’ve ruled myself out of any future postcards due to the fact I too have no static humble abode.
@OnePackWanderers
@OnePackWanderers 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ryan! Congratulations on your retirement! Amazing 🙂 Transportation is our 3rd largest expense category (behind food and accommodation). We also tend to avoid the pricier forms of transport, like taxis and tuktuks. It’s pricey, for sure! I think the least expensive method of transport we found was motorbike rentals. In Thailand, for a month-long rental, we got it down to $3/day. How are you enjoying your time so far? If our paths ever cross, we’ll buy you a beer instead of a postcard.

@@OnePackWanderers I think I did well with my bike rental. I got one from Chiang Mai for 2 months and it cost me 2000 baht per month, so $1.80 per day. I think my costs went up when I started island hopping. To be fair, I do scrimp with food and accommodation, not through necessity but because I think I’m quite frugal anyway. I’m really enjoying my time but I have to wait another 3 years for my girlfriend to retire so she can join me. Travelling is much better when you have someone to share it with. I will be back-and-to to the UK to see her. Maybe my drink budget is quite low as well because I quit alcohol but I will more than happily have an ice coffee with you guys. Enjoy Turkey. I love it and is definitely somewhere I will spend a bit of time soon.
@OnePackWanderers
@OnePackWanderers 2 жыл бұрын
You scored a really good deal on that scooter! 125cc? We also found island hopping to be much pricier than the rest of Thailand, which does make sense. How are you enjoying the islands? When your partner retires, you can show her all the cool spots you have found in the meantime. Iced coffee it is! We are both really missing Thailand, so we should end up there again pretty soon 🙂
@ryanbooth8421
@ryanbooth8421 2 жыл бұрын
@@OnePackWanderers Yeah, 125cc Honda Click. I suppose Chiang Mai is much cheaper than other places in Thailand. My Visa runs out 24th October and I’m still toying with where to go next. Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, India. Who knows…I’ll probably make my mind up a couple of days before 😂 Thailand does have a draw. I think it’s my 4th or 5th time here and I’m sure it won’t be my last.

@@OnePackWanderers Thank you so much, BTW if you go to Istanbul you should take the public bus to a town called Beykoz and then take a ferry to Sariyer. There is a great Pide restaurant called Pide Sariyer a good cheap eats and you can then take a ferry all the way back to central Istanbul. It's a great day trip and the bus ride and ferry were cheap. Some great cheap eats in Istanbul are Butme Evi Van Kahvalyi is a must for a Turkish Breakfast go during the week it's way too busy on weekends Cihangir Tarihi Simit is a very old bakery with awesome baked goods Safe travels and thank you again for the information in Izmir
