It's crazy how common it is for Toyota to have diesel engines in the rest of the world. Yet they have never had any in the North American market. My belief is that Toyota would sell even more trucks if they offered a diesel variant.
@darrinverch52744 жыл бұрын
they had diesels in 84 85 and 86 pickups in north america

Evan93 are you kidding me the USA auto makers would lose their asses off even more so.

I had a 1980's Toyota pickup I bought used from my uncle who bought it new. Great mileage, but very slow , was a great shop truck. My dad would up selling it when I left home.
@cabbyhubby4 жыл бұрын
@shaant Jaglal ...I didn't mind it being slow, (Non torbo,)the speed limit was only 55 mph, the little workhorse got 45 mpg and diesel was 85 cents a gallon !
@davidromero63354 жыл бұрын
shaant Jaglal Yes that is what the Americans don’t understand. The EPA is making it so hard to automakers to meet their stringent demands. Why would Toyota want to play their games when in other countries they can build Diesels that aren’t choked down and smogged up. We are already seeing the complications in gas engines which start burning oils because automakers like Toyota, Subaru, and Honda are using low friction rings to get more MPG because the EPA is bearing down upon them. Thats why Subaru is using CVT to make up for the decreased MPG of all wheel drive.

Any idea what this thing is getting for fuel millage? Most wouldn't care when running these tires or any lift. But I'm curious how these smaller diesels do. Stock they get 45-50 in a light car, even if you got 25 in that rig it would be great compared to any gas engine.

@carlswenson54034 жыл бұрын
@@trevorjaster4072 State laws and even County ordinances are crazy when it comes to engine swaps, particularly of the diesel variety. depending on where this truck is, I'd say odds are that you simply wouldn't be able to register or insure it. There are some states where you could even get a no plate or no insurance ticket anywhere except private property. Being a diesel fan myself I love this swap, but unless this Toyota is a strictly trail rig, I'd say that the owner might be in for a surprise when he takes it to the dmv. Point is, do your homework before you come to class. Oh and if whoever created this content is reading, hows about we hear it straight from you?
