Originally thought 40 minutes would be a bit long winded and boring for a top gear review. That was until I found myself saying "Can't believe it's *only* 40 minutes long!" Great review, with the engineers adding a whole lotta oomph to it. This really could do with being made into a 2/ 3 part docuseries or 120 minute one-off special: Where they can share their breakthroughs in design, along with how it reimagines mans modern work-horse that is the Pickup Truck. The seeds we plant today will be the crop that grows tomorrow. And I'm darn excited about what we'll see sprout for our kids!

@@RosefMudson1414 personally, I don’t care about looks (my winter vehicle is a rusted out beat up 2001 Civic with 330k 😂.) I care about utility, longevity, and performance is a nice bonus. If it actually lived up to original expectations (14k towing capacity, 600m range, and 0-60 in 3 seconds for $40-80k, depending on which motor variant,) I’d be down-even if it does look something you hammer into a tree to fell it in the desired direction!

Even though I'm not a Tesla fan, I was riveted to the end of the video because of the way Jack delivered this presentation. I also usually stop watching whenever engineers and designers come into a video because they are just annoying drones trying to market the "design language" and all that blah blah blah. But Lars and Franz made me listen to them to the end. Theirs was actually quite a refreshing conversation. Great video.

True, I'm also no tesla or Elon's fan but I've to give it to Tesla that it changed the automotive industry. And cybertruck, even that it's just a gimmick it is an impressive gimmick. I cannot say that this is pretty car, but it's definitely different and that's how it supposed to be. And it only could come from a guy who is a manchild himself. Cannot imagine any of the european brands designing something as outrageous as this (just look at this boring mercedes EQS). And I bet that 90% of those cars won't be used for work like normal trucks, but to show off.

They've never been particularly attractive in my opinion, but I bring my bike places and drive around quite a bit and am always concerned about messing up the interior of my SUV, even with the pads. I may not use it for the standard trucking stuff, but it really seems like it gives SUVs a run for their money too

Glad he mentioned body ripples at the end, which was my only comment. Questions: Battery Life & Cost for Replacement. Are panels more resistant to door dings, etc. than other cars? Are stainless panels coated? Do stainless panels 'blind' other drivers in the sun more than other vehicles? (Don't recall hearing).. Are main gauges on HUD in front of driver?

I'm sure you have truck owners out there who drive top-end F-250s and the most "work" it does is carry mulch from Home Depot. I have some around me - and I live in Brooklyn! The price of the Platinum ones is in the same range as Cybertruck, right? Like you say, a farmer can be a good fit with a Cybertruck, especially because you can plug it in at night. I'm married into a family of dairy farmers and I love to spend time with them. They work harder than I ever did and the children turn out as top-notch members of society.

I’m a dirt farmer who really puts my trucks to hard use. I’ve got an F250 7.3 Stroker with almost a million miles on her and still going strong. I do love my trucks but if I was a suburbanite my daily driver would not be a truck, it’d be a Cadillac CT5 V Blackwing.

I live in Dallas and being that it's just up from Austin, I wouldn't be surprised if within the next month, I might see one hanging around here, somewhere. I'm not the "oh my gosh, I need to get a selfie with that car," kind of guy... but in this case… I probably would be. :-) I mean the truck is so badass, that it will be a sensation for a while, even when you start seeing them on the street with at least mild regularity (to start). I'd be willing to say that they will be head turning for at least the next year if not two years (as were the first Teslas). I dare say, this will probably get more attention than when the new roadster (hopefully, finally) comes out!

I was waiting for some interviews with John Q. Public in “truck country”, say, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, Idaho, etc. The Cybertruck deserves a test by a rancher somewhere, who’s at first skeptical but a true believer after a day on the ranch or off-roading on a hunting trip.

As an engineer myself, I can appreciate the enormous amount of detail in making a vehicle that is replete with innovations and making sure that there will not be a look alike following it the following year. Elon was gravely criticized for overpromising and under delivering but this show absolutely obliterated those people. I'm a Model S owner and am looking forward to ordering the Model X, but this show made me change my mind. Someone said: Man must either change or die, I chose to change. Well done Elon. Just like whoever said, you can't compete with NASA, SpaceX has become NASA's transporter!

Moravy and Holzhausen have done a great service to humanity. The truck is actual second to the multiple additions they have brought us. The steel type, the steel tools, and the electrical system are way more important in the long run. Thanks to Elon as well, obviously. Well done Boys!

The more I learn about this truck and listening to the engineers the more I'm impressed. I thought it was a bit of a gimmick when it was announced a few years back, now I'm starting to wonder if it will set off a whole new trend.

Yeah I really focused on the odd looks, but failed to realize just how much special engineering went into this truck. The stainless steel body should last forever, it can't rust, and it won't rust if you're driving it in heavy rain daily. Most trucks, they rust really bad which is why the old trucks are not on the road anymore, because they have planned obsolescence. The Tesla Cybertruck, if properly maintained, could effectively last for hundreds of years--which is why no other car has ever been "allowed" to be stainless steel. It's a truck that could last forever.

The market the Cybertruck is targeting it's not the average truck owner, but the average Tesla or Rivian R1T costumer base. Beyond the hype, it's a standard unibody SUV with fancy Stainless steel panels, which will be mostly use to haul around groceries.

the steer by wire only bothers me because i'm worried you might be unable to steer the vehicle in a "zero power" situation, i mean i can see the arguments that in every "zero power" situation the vehicle would be winched and towed onto a flatbed, but... being able to steer it when it wont or cant power up would be useful.

I mean....there is quite a large pool of intelligent and inspired people. It's just not a lot of them are given the opportunity to grow and contribute based on where they were born and the access to education/opportunities. People tend to confuse education for intelligence and they are in fact not the same. Lots of intelligent people don't get the chance to give their intelligence wings so to speak. It's a shame because if we got our collective act together and created the reality we are capable of having we would be flooded with all kinds of Incredible ideas, inventions, applied sciences and what not. I would love to see humanities potential turned up to 11.

Ev's are a way backwards. They were the first cars and eventually fell out of favour since gas is so much better. Even better for the environment. Imagine, the co2 levels drop so low we all die of starvation because of the climate lie. God has a funny way of telling us this is all a lie. These elites where going to fly their private jets, strange, I thought we need to reduce co2, but all their jets are frozen to the runway in Munich. Now how can that happen if the earth is warming?
