the light is there to tell mechanics or anyone working on the car that the high voltage system is connected while the car is off. just a safety thing

Kyle, the orange light is discussed in the manual. It's there for service techs so they know when the HV battery is connected to the 12V system. It's normal operation for it to be on, but Kia should do a better job letting customers know what it's for.

Have you tried cleaning the interior and running an ozone machine in it? You can probably neutralize the smoke smell and clean it up well enough that you wouldn't have to splurge for a new interior.

You have the powered tailgate open for a long time. A well known drain on 12v battery on the EV6 and now the EV9. So no wonder the orange light is on. I don’t think we get that light on the UK model i tested. My EV6 has it though.

E-golf looking good. Hey Kyle just an FYI I learned from a guy I met who is an RN. He said if you take charcoal that you use in a fish tank for the filter and line it on a saucer (small plate) just layer it to fill the dish and then place it under your seat and leave for hours he said that will remove anything. He said they use that stuff to remove poison from humans! Never tried but may be worth the shot

Kyle i think Kia/Hyundai NEED to have that orange light because sometimes their cars decide NOT to charge the 12 volt like in my Ioniq 5 haha

Kyle, The orange light on the dash is fabulous. Hyundai ionics, including the current EGMP based ones, were famous for killing their 12v battery if you let them sit for too long, and being dead (requiring a boost, or sometimes a battery replacement, and potentially a tow) because they don't charge the 12V battery when the ignition is off. That orange light means they fixed that problem.

Interesting video, we live in different worlds. In the UK it is the drivers responsibility to ensure that any cargo, dogs included are loaded so that they will not move around and cause or contribute to an accident. In the UK most responsible owners either use dog cages, a dog bulkhead, or use a harness which secures the dogs collar to either a seatbelt anchor or a load area anchor.

With my Kona which also has a light notifying me the 12v is charging. Not sure if it’s a Hyundai /Kia thing but the car will not start vehicle charging right away when 12v maintenance is happening. So I think they add the light to let people know why the car hasn’t started charging due to 12v maintenance.

Looks like you have different laws in the US regarding dogs in cars. Here in the UK, dogs must be tethered in a moving car, and not be free to move around within the car, should they distract the driver. The fine here is up to £5000....

There is a striking difference between a very sharp attractive timeless exterior design of a VW eGolf like nothing else on the road, and new jelly bean coupefied designs. With a little tender love it just spruces up. With an extremely dull jelly bean exterior design you cannot achive anything like that with a Tesla no matter what wrap you try.

What a nice SUV. Bleu is so hilarious. I'll be curious how this vehicle holds up. I owned a Kia Sedona and my mom has a Kia Sportage. Both cars have terrible build quality. I did test drive the Ioniq 5 and EV6 before I bought my Mach-e but discounted both because of Kia/Hyundai build quality. I so wanted an e-Golf, but the crap range has dissuaded me. I definitely would not wrap it in diarrhea gold.\. Don't understand why people get into ambient lighting inside cars. (now, get off my lawn!)

It’s a less complicated charging protocol for LA. They really should pay the extra $10 for battery management and a LFP. My old Outback burned through a few batteries before I sized it up. Never had a problem after that. Wonder if that would help for the HKG woes.
