There are a couple of Ollie’s close by me that I go to from time to time. I have gotten some good comics in the past, but mostly what they have at my location now are DC books in the five packs and the trade books. They used to have a 10 pack of Comics for only a dollar more than the five pack of comics. They stopped carrying those probably before Covid happened. 😢. Keep up the great work. 😎

Funny thing about US1, I remember it being in the old marvel 3-packs from the early 80s.

The mystery packs are fun and I've got some pretty cool stuff in them before. I mostly go for the trades and sometimes find pretty good deals. I remember they had all 3 Batman Eternal books for like $6 a piece.
@ComicBookCorner2.0 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think they did have Batman eternal there They also had a solid walking dead hardcover They did have injustice So next time I go and I'm in that area I will definitely pick up a few

Ollie's is cool. their mystery pack at my store was originally all 90s comics lol. But over the last year they've had other stuff in the mystery packs. Like back stock stuff. Really still not worth it But the tpb prices are great. Unfortunately my Ollie's has had the same stuff for two years. I got that walking dead trade #14 it's great.

US 1 is super common. I see that book everywhere. It was a heavily printed 80s book like Psi Force, Strikeforce Morituri, Nth Man…etc.
@kitescuriosities7717 Жыл бұрын
Not bad, my man. The thing with Ollie’s mystery bags is you have to really search through that stuff to find the good ones. But, you got some nice stuff. That Firestorm Nuclear Man #65 is a fairly nice little key issue. It’s the debut of the second version of Firestorm where the character Mikhail Arkadin fuses together with characters Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein. Hope you enjoyed reading that one.👍

I love Ollie's. Got a Batman #89 and #93 and YOV #3. I buy the ten packs all the time. My Ollie's has a huge selection and it takes me about twenty minutes to go thru the five packs and ten packs. Great job on the video.

I appreciate that I wish that location had more packs.

Usually I don't go near the mystery pack for fear of getting played but sometimes you find some gems. I try to stick with the omnis and TPBs. Also their toys are discounted too so if you collect any like Marvel or DC figures sometimes you can get lucky

When I go back I will probably get some trades they where great prices

i’ve never been to Ollie’s but it seems like the closest thing to buying comics off a spinner rack in the 80s, even if the comics are mostly junk. looks like a fun experience

I love going to Ollie's to browse their hardcover collected editions. I have gotten some amazing deals there on hardcovers to add to my collection. And yes, all of the stores are pretty much a wreck like that. I go in only to look at the hardcovers...and I might get a trade here and there, but their stickers are a pain to get off the trades, at least with the hardcovers they are usually wrapped, but if not the sticker is a bit easier to get off of it. I have heard of US 1, but only because I have a comic friend who absolutely loved that they made that title. There are definitely some weird titles that were made back then.
@samuelbankston2108 Жыл бұрын
Same but my Ollie's rarely gets new stuff. Like years
@samuelbankston2108 Жыл бұрын
I've also had them put stickers on their comic books. Man I hate that
@ryandrost9188 Жыл бұрын
@@samuelbankston2108 Yeah, it can take a while for mine to get new stuff, so I usually only go there twice a year unless someone I know goes there and tells me they have new stuff in there.

Rough packs...Comics here in CA would never survive a store and be sold for $20/pk or $5 ea. comic on whatnot etc...sounds like the book section was untouched compared to the rest of the store...Still pretty cool bc its like christmas opening packs...

I believe that Adventures Of Superman annual #1 is the first time Dan Jurgens drew Superman in a Superman comic.

If you want a rough Ollie's come over this way. Yours had a much better selection than our Ollies here. Most of the comic packs here are opened. FYI I made a video on my channel for our local store, but was asked to stop recording or leave the store. I had just finished when I was approached so I made the edit anyway. But I rarely go into the store anymore after that treatment.

Never heard of Ollie’s. But I’ve never traveled across America looking for comic book stores. Comic boo stores seem like a dying breed similar to book stores or DVD stores. Not impressed with the mystery bags. I rather go for dollar bins or cheap trades. Yes, I had a few issues of US 1 as a kid. Not sure why I bought them… haha…. The series did not last very long. I think it lasted less than 10 issues?
@ComicBookCorner2.0 Жыл бұрын
I can totally understand why. Never ever heard of that series You could tell by my reaction. Yeah next time I go there I probably would pick up some cheap hardcovers They are definitely recently priced

I've heard of "US1" and remember when it first came out. Had zero interest then, and even less now! LOL! Not my kind of book for sure. You pulled a few decent books. Nothing crazy, but probably some decent reads and good art. I rarely bought DC books as a kid, so for me, many of those are like new books, only better because I feel the stories and art were consistently better than what DC produces these days (WF not included). Thanks for sharing! Never been to Ollies myself.
