This occurred less than 30 days after the CCW law became active in Wisconsin. I do believe he was carrying without a round chambered, as he was still getting comfortable with carrying a gun. Also, the shooting was in Milwaukee, whose police chief is rabidly against civilians carrying a gun. hAfter the shooting, his firearm was confiscated as "evidence" and it took over a year to get it back, even after the case was closed and only because he hired an attorney.

No respect for somebody that gets little kids behind him, then starts a gun fight that didn't need to happen. Follow the perp out and maneuver until there are no children in the line of fire, or just wait at the ready if he starts hurting people. This idiot greatly increased the chances of those kids dying, and the perp still got away because the idiot can't shoot. What did he accomplish, besides proving why there should be a proficiency test with a CCW license?

The few that have language skills focused in the right side of the brain tend to be left-handed. Randy Wolfe Umm your pretty, what's the word, not-bright. Chambered guns without safeties go off when dropped ^_~ There could be a movie style chase scene where someone shoves you out of the way, the gun drops, lands and fires off into a child... How likely? Not very but the point of being a CCW is to be aware and prepared. Also maybe you need to run and you know gun in hand may not be appropriate, aka life well you could set it off and hurt yourself. Learn how to PROPERLY use your fire arm and then there will be minimal issues.

I train to sweep the safety off even when there is no safety. I have a lot of firearms. Some with safeties, some with out. I almost always carry a firearm without, but even when I draw my Glock, I sweep my thumb as if there is a safety there out of habit. I figure I might not always have the gun I prefer in the fight if something kicks off, so might as well. The only thing I might run into problems with is some strange designs like an older Walther or something where the safety works totally different.

My thoughts as well. It was brave, but stupid to attack the robber on the way out. That business isn't giving out any rewards, or couldn't care less if the ccw or anyone else got killed. The more that civilians stand up and say (with their actions) “STOP!”, the more that these thugs have to fear from civilians, the better for that community - the thugs would probably choose less defensive neighborhoods. This is how it used to be - that a thug could not commit a crime in public without being taken down. We need to restore that civilian activism against crime and protect the vulnerable in our community. Make men MEN again.

Uh - you forgot about the criminals that carry. When they show up you can call 911 and wait 5-10 minutes for the police to show up. When they do get there, they will be making a chalk outline around bodies and counting shell casings.

DoctorLarry - For every time a "good guy with a gun" saves the day, there's about 10 incidents where the "good guy" gets shot and killed because he didn't take the safety off, or he wounds or kills innocent bystanders, or he shoots and kills the "bad guy" when there was no need to do so, like the guy was running away. We don't have the death penalty for armed robbery!

Man I love your videos, especially this week. As a novice gun owner I’m always looking for good pointers and things that I feel that I’m doing wrong that I should fix or what to do to not hurt somebody in a situation where I’m trying to help and you always criticize where needed but most importantly commend those like this individual who may not be a special opps operator but is one who is willing to step up and defend those who were not willing to carry.. there are so many people who are so quick to crucify “ this man “ because he may have made some mistakes in hey clutch situation win does individuals don’t understand how stressful and demanding those situations can be. I love how you always command each individual for what they’ve done and recognize that they have done their duty even if they need to work on certain aspects, I don’t know anyone including the multitude of special forces and Delta operators I’ve met and befriended growing up at Fort bragg nc that wouldn’t agree they couldn’t grow from some constructive criticism or outside advice. Love the videos and commend you for your channel!

I agree with you, as far as the people standing around. When there's that many people there's more of an opportunity to duck, back away and possibly get the hell out of there. As far as the CCW guy, I probably wouldn't recommend getting back into the situation when you have your family with you, but I commend him on protecting everyone else. But, he did have to manipulate his gun for a few seconds which could've cost him his life, and he did put the gun away too soon. Had that situation gone horribly wrong he could have died.

***** I'm not sure the point of your comment, but I'll try to respond the best that I can. Your comment is true, however, shooting someone to cause death is not the goal. The goal is to shoot to stop the threat. Even when shooting to stop the threat is the goal, you ideally should shoot in an area that will best accomplish that goal. The leg ain't that place.

Our defender here made multiple crucial mistakes that could have indeed got him and/or someone else shot. 1 being the fact that his gun wasn't ready to fire when he first drew it, and then 2 being the fact that he put it away too soon. Stay at the ready. Still good defense and it worked out great this time, but a little more training will make him alot more effective if he is unlucky enough to deal with this type of situation again.

@MrSubmariner13 8 жыл бұрын
+Andreas Madsen You do realise that revolvers that are loaded and all semi autos that have a round chambered are (as you put it) hammer down on live rounds. just about any handgun that's been made in the last 100 years doesn't have a firing pin on the hammer. the pin is separate from the hammer and thus "slam firing" is almost nonexistent unless some serious modifications have been made to the weapon. As is the case with expert speed shooters guns.

Keyword "Possibly". By shooting his own gun he guaranteed that people's lives were endangered. If he had simply let the robber take some money and leave, there would have been a much smaller chance of any bystander being injured or killed. Anyone there could easily see that the robber had no intention of shooting anyone. All he wanted was the money. Like I said before, that was incredibly reckless behavior. Not to mention that (at least in my state) What he did was extremely illegal. He intentionally involved himself in a crime without attempting to flee. Maybe in Florida (America's asshole) that might be considered acceptable, but in the civilized world it sure as fuck isn't.

Not carrying a gun with a round in the chamber is downright nuts. Learn from this mistake! Manual safeties will get you killed! Unless you get to handle that gun over and over on how to disengage the safety manual when you are going to shoot, it has to become second nature, most civilians do not train enough.That is why most police departments carry weapons without a manual safety. If you do not want the gun to go off, keep your finger outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot, it is that simple!
