Thai hospitalisation is not second to none in south east asia with a better cost than the west . Most of the Middle East people come to Thailand for low cost hospitalisation. Thailand will soon announced to be not only the food hub of the world but also madical hub for Asia.Hope you are getting well soon.

I hope Tia gets well soon. In case you didn't know Thailand is a "medical tourism hub in Asia". Meaning people from around the world come to Thailand for treatment especially from neighboring countries like Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Middle Eastern, and European too. So if you want to get it fix better do it here (in Thailand) first before you move to other places (country). At least it is affordable and efficient. What you pay ain't cheap but I don't want to alarm you but what that is a private hospital, you pay more but at least it is fast, you get to see specialist and service is good. At least it is cheaper than in US (i guess).

Some friends recommended that hospital to us so that’s why went to that one. It was really nice how fast it was though so we can’t complain. In the US that same treatment would cost $2000-6000 not including medication.

Just a tip from my experience with anti-inflammatory/muscle relaxers (might be different for you), but I INSTANTLY felt better the next day. No pain whatsoever. Just remember that feeling better doesn't necessarily mean you ARE better. It took about little over a month before I was able to go running again which was the source of my injury. So good plan you two taking a break. Stick to it!

Hope Tia’s back will get better quickly and you guys would have a fun journey again.U might consider change the travel option from rent motorcycle to rent a car or take a bus instead if Tia’s back still hurt. I’m sure now many Thais are following ur channel and willing to help if u have any emergency. PS. Thailand medical treatment system is one of easy, convenient accessibility compared to USA(New York city to be exactly which I had lived for couple years) and Japan (which I traveled and got sick) including price range for treatment which is much cheaper than those 2 countries that I experienced. All I mentions is based on Private hospital. BUT if u go to Public hospital, it will be totally different. Price will be extremely cheap but so crowded with a massive queue.

Just some information Thailand Medical services are ranked quite highly in the world for cost and efficiency. The major difference from the US is that you don't have to drag yourself from the hospital to CVS or Walgreens to get your prescription, which in my option is quite tedious. Thai hospitals are a one stop shop in itself so you can get your prescribed drugs right after you pay at the hospital and go home, you don't have to struggle to find the nearest CVS or Walgreens etc... If you go to Hospitals in Bangkok (ie. Bumrungrad) they usually accept all major US insurance (ie. Blue Cross/Blue Shield etc...) you can do a claim with these insurances but you pay first and clear later when back in the US. As a final note, Thai hospitals as you go to the larger well known and established ones (ie. Samithivej, Bangkok Hospital etc..) tend to look like a mall with everything in it from Starbucks, 7-11, and some other form of convinces to cater to your every needs. Hope this helps. Cheers.
@OnePackWanderers

It’s really a huge contrast to the US! We were very surprised at how efficient and convenient everything was. Even setting cost aside, the Thai hospital still seemed better. I think our favorite part was that the appointment time indicated was the actual time that Tia got to see the doctor. In the US, you schedule an appointment for 1+ weeks out and then show up to your appointment 15 minutes early… only to wait an hour for the doctor to actually see you.

Actually private hospital service in Thailand is world class. However some few high class hospitals might charge very expensive which you should look up for info quite easily using google (you will ask yourself agsin snd again is this a hospitsl or 5-stars hotel room cause it is actually 5-stars). Enough wrote, wish Tia will be back with healthy back and make me hungry at midnight again and again. Looking forward to that. God bless ;)

I think you have a good approach to this situation of pain in the back, and doing research beforehand. I would also read reviews online to confirm from various sources. When having certain issues I thought this hospital would be a good option as well. Currently I have something similar in my back and I'm in TH. This video came up on my feed which is coincidental. Because my experience with this type of low back pain isn't anything new, as I've had it happen periodically for years, I understand I need to patiently wait it out. But I can really understand the need to want a solution faster when the body wants to take its time in healing, so I'm currently shuffling along as best as I can for a few days.

Another options of Hospital in Chiang Mai, I do prefer Bangkok Hospital and Sripat Hospital. Chiang Mai ram is also good one but it quite little bit pricey for me. when compare the same price range with Bangkok Hospital which offer more luxurious than Chiang Mai ram. Many famous doctors around Northern region of Thailand, They are vey professional, kind and very polite. I found many time that when I was in doctor's room for warp up "in hospital" they do kindly asking that can I afford for this expense? they provide many option for me. no need to pay for pricey price in fancy hospital. Surprisingly that when s/he told me like this a lovely nurse always laugh and say " I heard nothing khaa." this is happen to me 3-4 time in 2021. I do live in good country, and I still believed that vast majority of people still care for other more than money..... BTW, hope Tia getsbetter!

I have the same exact issue after i hard fell on my back few years ago. The problem resurfaces every 6 months to a year depending on if i did some kind of lifting or bending that causes herniated disc. Problem usually goes away with in 2 weeks naturally. Body will get rid of the disc fluid touching the nerves. There is no oral medication that will fix this problem. Only way to fix it permanently is to get a surgery where they will remove a part of the disc causing hernia. Avoid MRI/Xray unless absolutely necessary, it reduces your life span.

Well done for not going tithe chiropractic yet (although maybe for later it might be good for appraising your posture). More yoga might help as well maybe? All In all, you must have been in quite a lot of pain, and it’s not nice to see your partner in pain at all. Take it easy, find a nice hotel with comfy (but not too soft ;) matrasses, good loungers and Please don’t do the loop until you feel loads better. Meds might give a false security and we are happily here to wait untill your next adventures begins for sure. You guys take it slow and recuperate! ☀️

Hope you get well very soon and thank you for trusting our hospitals. 🙏🇹🇭 Anyway 10700 thb for Thai like me makes my eyes pop out because we usually go to the gov hospitals with our free medical card (called THE GOLD CARD). The quality of our gov hospital doctors are similar to the private ones. Only medicines that change. (Cheap vs Expensive medicines). We Thais never make appointments with doctors, we are so accustomed with “walk-in”. So the western hospital protocols (appointments only and wait for a week) are the puzzle for us.

When people find out they cautiously ask how that experience was for me, expecting a horror story. Are you kidding? The hospital had all the luxuries of a 5 star hotel, especially my private room. There was a fast food restaurants floor and a fine dining floor. For the delivery a whole team of highly qualified medical specialists attended, including the paediatrician who then continued the care of my kids as they grew up. All of the equipment was state of the art. And with health insurance i didnt pay a single baht. A friend who didn't have health insurance and who had complications paid US$2k but that also included all of the obgyn appointments throughout.

About 2.5 years ago I had a partially detached retina and went to Hua Hin public hospital. I had to wait for 120 people who were in front of me. By lunch time the diagnosis was confirmed and laser surgery completed! Cost was $110!!!

Wow wow wow that sounds incredibly painful. What happened (if you don’t mind me asking)? Glad it was sorted out the same day. And $110 is amazingly good.

I feel your pain. I’ve had a bad back since 1977. Eat healthy, swimming, no running,, the stronger your stomach muscles are, it will help. Medical is first step, but holistic methods seem to work best for me. Massage, chiropractor with a spinal decompression machine (rack), Inversion boots or the teeter machine are good. My back usually feels better in Chiang Mai because it’s hot and humid and massages are cheap. Lift with your legs. Hope you feel better.

Hello! Sorry for taking so long to reply. Thank you for the tips! You are right that drugs are not a long term fix. I’ve been doing lots of yoga and stretching exercises, which has helped a lot 🙂

@@OnePackWanderers I forget to tell you, sleep with a pillow under your knees. Chiropractors over the years have told me these things. As a teenager I had a sugar problem and that’s when my bad back started, though it could be hereditary. Swimming is great for the back. I don’t think running is.

Hope you feel well soon. I have a similar problem. Chronic back pains. I began visiting a chiropractor almost a year ago. I was skeptical, most people are scared and think is a scam. After a year I can say it's totally worth it. Getting your joints adjusted is important. I go once every two weeks. Cost is $25 (here in US) and I haven't suffered chronic pain since. I can sense the stiffness coming back if I go too long without going. I just look at it like getting a massage.

I think the trick is finding a good chiropractor. Some of them can make the pain worse but others can work magic 🙂 Glad your back pain is better! It’s not a fun thing to deal with.

I hope Tia gets well soon. I have been following you guys since your first arrival to Thailand. That Mae Hongsorn loop on motor bike might not be a good idea to Tia’s back, pls be careful and consult doctor first. I might have missed when you mentioned what caused Tia’s back pain. Can u repeat again what caused it? If it is disc slip, you might need physical therapy after the nerve inflammation subsides. All the best to you both, esp Tia!

We are definitely going to wait until her back is 100% better before going on the loop (if we go at all). Her back pain is from an old running injury that she got in school. It's a bulging disc. The doctor recommended lots of rest and some stretching exercises such as yoga. She's feeling much better doing those things 😄 Best to you as well!

In my experience, natural treatments such as infrared therapy and spinal decompression do a better job of healing the bulging disc, instead of just hiding the pain with meds. I'm on my 4th week of decompression therapy for my bulging disc, and 85% better now 😊. Hope you're feeling better with a fast recovery.

I think you're definitely right about that. I had to cut the dosage in half because the medication was making me dizzy all the time. Focusing on stretching exercises now and it is helping a lot 🙂 Glad you are feeling better too! 4 weeks is a pretty long time to deal with a bulging disc 😕

@One Pack Wanderers MRI in my city at a private Hospital in Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima cost 20,000 baht.. I would recommend a specific Thai food which a lot of Westerners love .. This food originated from Northern Thailand, it's called 'Kao Soy' not too spicy, but very tasty. Another favourite, is. 'Gapao Moo' which is minced pork, with basil, and chili. If you don't like too spicy, say " Mai pet" Mai means No, Pet means Spicy. Enjoy guys .

That price still isn't too bad compared to America. Where we're from an MRI would cost $2-6k (at least 70,000 baht). We had Khao Soi last time we were in Chiang Mai! Sooo good, and we'll definitely have it again 🙂
