What can I say female aviators have come a long way. These female pilots of the Mig-31 are no ordinary pilots as high altitude flying is no easy feat. The Mig-31 is still in service with the Russian Air Force, it's a good piece of engineering. Overall it's a good interceptor because of its great speed, it can reach any point faster than any fighter jet in the world. Although endowed with lightning fast speed the MIG-31 isn't suited for close range aerial combat or dogfight coz they're not designed or optimized for maneuvering, they can't make short quick turns like the other Russian aircrafts like the Mig-29, Su-27, Su-30, Su-34, Su-35, etc. They're designed for BVR (Beyond Visual Range) combat, once they fire their missiles they head back home.

Umm, are you sure she is a pilot? Looked to me like she got into the back seat of the Mig. That is an achievement (if she is a WSO or the equivalent) to be sure but it is not a pilot. Hate to say it, but that might have been a PR shoot like the blond lady they claimed was an F16 driver but was most definitely not.

@@JohnBenedictuyReyes The F35 itself doesn't need to catch up. It's aranament and avionics will. The MiG 31 is still a dedicated interceptor, not a figher.

​@@БранимирПетров You're right it's an interceptor first and foremost, not a fighter jet designed to do dogfights. Really don't understand why that guy had to choose the word "catch up" with the F-35, I mean instinctively I reacted like he meant the F-35 would chase after the Mig-31, which we all know that this isn't POSSIBLE given the great disparity in speed between the two birds. But I've got to say if an F-35 wants to shoot down a Mig-31, I don't see any reason why it can't, this bird is considered the most technologically advanced fighter jet in the world today.

@@JohnBenedictuyReyes Exactly. I'm not a fan of the F35 (I find planes like the F15EX and Su 35 far more interesting), but can't deny it's abillities.
