Thanks. Unfortunately it was stolen and totaled. I got it back and have been collecting parts to rebuild it.

i love that you are teaching the young ones to drive a stick transmission , i have the same old 76 crew cab longbed that i took an ex army m880 and converted it to a crew cab m880 using the 2wd frame, then cummins 12v converted, good job on the work, and good parenting not many kids these days will be able to drive a manual transmission 👍👍

This is such a cool build me and my brother are about to start building his crew cab in a few moths and i found this video because im looking for ideas on how we are going to tackle that project thanks for posting this video. I will also be uploading the videos on my channel.

Love the video. I am going through the same build just with a whole new 83 cab instead of splicing. When the truck was finished did you just insure it under the same VIN and registration or get it inspected and registered as modified?

Dang yours was a little more involved than mine! Mine took 5 days haha but was much easier

Unfortunately she was stolen and totaled. I got it back but it doesn’t have a straight body panel on it. I’ve picked up a 82 crew cab and starting body work now. I’m going to do it differently this time. The 82 cab is a lot closer then the old 78 so I don’t plan to weld the 2 different cabs together this time. I may swap the fire wall but that would be it. I enjoy watching your videos! Keep them coming!

Im wanting to do this same build but am wondering why you splice the cabs together rather then putting on the different from end.
@crawleysgarage32134 жыл бұрын
Tristan Doyle You don’t have to cut it like I did. My original plan was to strip entire dash and everything out and swap it to the 78 fire wall. Basically nothing would line up. I was going to have to do a lot of work to fire wall or cut out the fire wall and weld in the 92. The harness clutch and a few other things were totally different. The transmission hump was wrong so I was going to have to cut it out and weld it so I could have room for the 4wd shifter. The floor was rusted anyway. I decided why try to fab everything to work when I can just cut the 2 in half and weld it back together and be done. I went from a 78 2wd to a 92 4wd. If you don’t feel comfortable doing it the way I did find a 81-85 4wd crew cab to start with. This way the trans hump will be right and the fire wall will be closer. You’ll still have to swap hydro clutch and cut the hole bigger for the diesel wire harness but it will work. The 78 front end will swap if you want it to. You’ll have to fab the inner cooler to the core support but I was after the 92 front end. I just like it better.

@crawleysgarage32134 жыл бұрын
Bryce Manuel the only thing I would have done differently is all the body work while the truck was apart. Unfortunately I had a deadline due to needing my truck. I’ll be tearing it back apart this spring to do the body work. Everything went fast but I did take my time. If you see something a little off take your time and do it right. Good luck on your build

@@crawleysgarage3213 what did you do about the brake lines
@crawleysgarage32134 жыл бұрын
Bryce Manuel I bought regular straight steel brake lines from a local auto parts store and build them myself. I flared the truck lines and added from right in front of the fuel tank to the rear end. It’s super easy. As for ebrake cable I used the 78 crew front half and the 92 rear.
