Amazing views of Lares. Lots of memories in that town when we were growing up. I used to love the festivals (fiestas patronales) every year in the middle of the plaza. I love that town. Great Video 👍👍

The oil sinks to the bottom of the caldero causing the bottom layer of rice to kind be "fried"...Hence the magic of pegao and all it's glorious deliciousness jajajaja. SO GOOD

Hola Ovi,Nice video. Beautiful views and good music, thank you for sharing with all of us. I smiled when you said you like to eat pegao bc it brought back memories, when i was little my dad used to get mad when i scraped the pan to get pegao,it was so funny! I think that what makes you gain weight is the rice in general, but i think the pegao it's harder for the stomach to digest since it's hard rice. I've always eating pegao when I can make it, and my weight it's not bad, but i eat rice like 3 days a week. Most Puerto Rican people love to eat pegao, es como una costumbre dificil de dejar.

Yes it is Zoraida, I will eat pegao for as long as I live. My wife avoids making it and she does get annoyed when I scrape the pan, but I can't help it. Lol. My father always gives me a plate full of it every night when I visit. He understands and does it too. Great times. Esa costumbre no se quita. Saludos.

Aida, el mirador es en la calle 111 mirando hacia el pueblo, pero tambien es cerca en donde termina la 129. He escuchado de la Hacienda La Fe y algun dia tendre que ir. Tambien a La Lealtad. Aqui en Phialdelphia el dia esta malisimo. No nieve, pero mucho frio. Saludos.

Michael, I learned that the trick to more pegao is to add more vegetable oil to your rice. It makes more that way. Love it.

Do you know if EL Grito coffee is 100% Puerto Rican coffee? A lot of the coffee sold on the island will have a stamp that says "hecho en Puerto Rico" but on a different part of the bag it will say 'Cafe Puerto Riquena mezclado con cafe importado" which means is it isnt 100% Puerto Rican coffee. I am always looking for new brands that are 100% PR grown and roasted and not mixed. So far I have tried Draco Rosa Coffee, Cafe Hacienda San Pedro, 787 coffee and Cafe Boricua.

Michelle, I had the same question when I first heard the name. Like wait, what!!?? La Tetita Lareñna sells flavored ice in a bag. My family has visited and posted pictures on Facebook and that opened my interest. But it was closed when I was there. Maybe next time.

Ovi Duran I live in Maryland and haven’t been to PR since 2017. I was hoping to go this summer but may not be able to. My dad lives in San Juan and he lived through Maria all alone and he still refuses to leave. I don’t blame him PR is like no other place. Something about that land that just calls us back!
