So when u loosened the wheels in the very beginning how do you figure out how much to loosen them?
@awwa6554 жыл бұрын
Maddies __edits they need to be as loose as possible but they should not be clicking if you move them
@andreamp094 жыл бұрын
You tighten them all the way (till the wheels are barely able to spin at all), then you incrementally loosen them (like one quarter turn at a time) until they can freely spin for a good while without stopping. If the wheels are so loose that they “rattle”, you know you’ve loosened them too much.

Great video. Impala Roller Skates are excellent value for money and I'd recommend them to anyone wanting to start out in Roller Skates and own there skates, an excellent starting point and with a simple bearing upgrade you will get a lot of use out of them. Best of all they feature a metal plate which prevents a lot of twist like you get in the nylon plate skates. I own a pair of Riedell roller skates that cost twice the price of the Impala's and I didn't even get a metal plate with them. There nice enough skates but I'm definitely going to get an arch support pair at some point for tricks and figure skating moves. PS. Blue hair rocks, I once got my hair a nice electric blue and it was great to see the reactions on some faces.
@KarentheKarrot5 жыл бұрын
Sean Curtin yes I agree they are such a good skate for the money ! And I don’t like plastic plates . I like to feet sturdy with metal plates 👌
@seancurtin51315 жыл бұрын
@@KarentheKarrot 100% advantage having metal plates, especially for beginner skaters. Some people like a spongier feel but for speed and accurate skating you really want a metal plate as the twisting of nylon and other plastic plates has a negative effect on skate performance.

Chicago's shouldn't even be used in a rink. The ones with metal plates...the plates are awesome...but the boots SUCK! LOL I get them because I do shoe builds. $30 for a decent plate versus $60 + the cost of hardware for a cheap plate? I'll go for half the price any day! Which reminds me I really need to work on my next build. Got the shoes, Chicago plates (I just pitch the boots), the wheels and stops I wanted, just have to put everything together now.... P.S. I'm now also tempted to get a pair of the Impalas...because, I really NEED 8 pairs of skates. LOL I have 2 speed, 1 derby, 2 high tops, and will have 2 of my own shoe builds once I get this new pair set up. Eh...some of the Impalas are really cute, though. Yep...definitely need an 8th pair! :)

Hey MystiqueRisingSun Could you do a video on how to build skates from old Chicago plates? I have an 8 year old pair of Chicagos that taught me to skate well. The boots have died but the plates, trucks and even wheels are all still in great shape! Thanks!
@MystiqueRisingSun5 жыл бұрын
@@happyhiker7266 Unfortunately, I don't have those capabilities. But it's really not that difficult. Get a wrench and take off the mounting bolts. Pull the bolts - and any washers or plates that are in the boot out of the skates. Label them (just "L" - or "left" - and "R" or "right"). Get whatever shoes you like. I prefer new ones, but you can use an older pair as long as they're still in good condition without much wear on the bottom. If your favorite shoes are starting to fall apart, considering getting a new pair of the same model...and size if they're still comfortable. Recruit a friend to help and grab a Sharpie and possibly a flashlight (a cell phone's flashlight will do). Put the plates down. Put the shoes on, tied and all. Stand on the plates, with the shoes on, until they feel comfortable. You don't want your foot too far forward, nor too far back. This is where the flashlight may come in handy. Move your foot gently to adjust where the plate is under your foot. Use a wall to help you remain stable if needed. Once you figure out that "sweet spot" for where you want your plates, have your friend mark the soles of the shoes where the holes are in the plate with the Sharpie. (Note, use a silver or gold Sharpie if the soles of the shoe are black or a darker color...any other colored soles, or white soles, you can use a traditional black Sharpie.) Once marked, remove your shoe's insoles and simply drill holes where the marks are. Handheld drills work best for this, preferably a battery-powered one (no power cords to get tangled in while you work). Then...put the mounting bolts through the inside plate (or washers) that came on your original skates, then through the shoe, finally put the plate on the bottom of the shoe and put the bolts through the holes in that. Once all 4-8 bolts are in place (different styles have a different number of bolts used, 4 is the most common, though), simply put on and tighten the nuts that held the plates together. NOTE: If the plates are much older (15 or more years) I would recommend a trip to the hardware store for new nuts. Take one of the originals and ask an employee to help you find ones that are of similar size and that are threaded the same way. Don't forget to place your shoes' insoles back into the shoe before putting your new skates on! Standing on the bare metal of the mounting bolts/plates/washers tends to hurt! LOL As long as you know how to work a wrench - and a drill - it really is that easy. :) Just remember, athletic shoes do have a softer sole than skate boots. You can now buy metal insoles to help stiffen the soles of a shoe build, but it's not "absolutely" needed. It does take a little time to get used to the different feel, but honestly, that "odd" feeling only lasts for anywhere from a few minutes to a couple hours depending on how much you skate....those with more experience will get used to that feeling faster (since different skates always feel tad bit different). Someone who is newer to skating, it may take a little longer if they're used to rental skates. Those who've never skated at all won't have much of an adjustment time either, since skating itself is new, they - of course - wouldn't know what an actual skate boot feels like compared to the softer sole. Mounting a dress shoe or boot, those usually have thicker and harder soles, so no real "adjustment time" is needed to get used to the feel of those whether you'e new to skating or have been on wheels for 20 years. Happy skating! :)

I've been using these skates for about a week and a half (i do figure skating but wanted to try out "sidewalk skating") and the toe stop is pretty plastic-y and difficult to use until worned out. The wheels are also a mix btw gummy and hard but they wear out really really EASILY. The outside of my wheels is scraping off... pretty disappointing. The boot is also beginning to detach from the sole (idk if that makes sense). I know they are pretty cheap for skates but there is an enormous difference btw impalas and my figure skating skates (i dont expect them to be like my figure skating ones obviously, but I wanted to point out that they're really bad quality). I reccomend moxi beach bunnies instead. I know they're more expensive but totally worth the money

I'm wanting to buy my first skates but I don't know whether to get Impalas or Moxi beach bunnies. I've heard that impalas are known for having the heels rip and sometimes even come off! But Moxi skates are just so expensive for a person who doesn't have a job yet! Are the impalas worth it and do they last for a year or two before becoming unusable?

Would you recommend getting a tool to loosen the impala skates when you get them? Does that make it go faster or make it smoother? Also where can I purchase a loosening tool?

Maddy Vlogs I only recommend getting a size up if you are used to wearing close toed shoes in a half size bigger. For example I wear a size 5 1/2 in closed toed shoes so I always get a size six in impalas and they are very comfortable to me 😊

I love the fact that these skates are vegan. I have chaya melrose skates but i wish i had bought a chaya with adjustable toe stop. I did upgrade them, radar energy wheels and swiss bones bearrings, you can tie them all the way up and they keep on rolling!. They ride like a dream and they are very comfy because of the soft padding. Never had any pain right from the start. Gonna stick with chaya and get a better pair

How much did you pay for them? I’m looking at them on Amazon now and they’re almost $300! They were about $100 last year according to the comments. I don’t appreciate the price gauging. It’s bad customer service..

I have the holographic impalas and I wear a size six but had to size up to sevens for my impalas. the six was tight around the toes. I also have the holographic candy girl skates but I like my impalas better. I did put outdoor wheels on though. I’ve herd impala fall apart quickly I’ve had mine 3 months and I beat the crap out of them but they are still good.

I have a pair of these. I have not loosened the wheels. I find I get caught on cracks and pavement really easy, will loosening the wheels help with this?
@In_time5 жыл бұрын
Natalie Spark yeah, boo! 🙌🏻Wheels should roll. Period 👌🏻 Freely and easily (when you “slap” them up or down, they should spin without hesitation) When/if they don’t, you’re gonna have problems 😬
@nataliespark47485 жыл бұрын
@@In_time thanks, I loosened them yesterday and gave them a go over a really rough surface. It made a world of difference. Nearly tripping every time I went over something not remotely smooth made me so scared of skating. I feel so much more comfortable now. Also takes allot less effort to skate now lol.
@KarentheKarrot5 жыл бұрын
yes ! speed is your friend when it comes to going over cracks and racks. the slower you go the more you'll get stuck :)

@@KarentheKarrot thanks. I was skating for two months on them how they were, and became terrified of cracks etc because I would constantly stumble. I thought I was doing something wrong, cos my husband was breezing over cracks and rough terrain in his skates with no issues. I loosened them after watching this vid, and immediately noticed a massive difference.

@deedledumb7905 жыл бұрын
AFAIK, some skates have nylon plates, which are quite strong, but better for looser advanced styles like skate dancing, tricks and downhill slalom type skating. But if it's plastic, avoid like the plague! Aluminium is good for straight outdoor skating. Hope that helps. All information was learned from Indy Jamma Jones, I am not an expert.
