Mac, use metered tuk tuks always. Otherwise, they will scam you. But, it's always best to use Pickme App or Uber for tuk tuk rides. The fee is automatically decided according to the distance you travel in the app, so they can't over charge you.

That's why I love France, UK and cities like Prague preserve their architecture, culture arts etc etc. Even New York there's no city you can compare as she has her own original skyscrapers and landscape. Sinhalese and Tamil are the official languages of Sri Lanka. Sinhalese is the major community in Sri Lanka and Tamil is spoken by Tamils ( Jaffna and nothern part of the country have a Tamil majority ) and Muslims in Sri Lanka.

Use “pick me “ and “ Uber “ apps to get an idea about the price or use them. There are meter taxi in colombo ( meter tuk tuk ) before you hop in check whether the meter is functional. Enjoy Sri Lanka.

Great video. Really enjoyed free flow content. I have not been to SL in 9 yrs. I am originally from there, but live in US now. Wonderful to see all the new developments. You are doing it the right way by staying in control of what you want to do. Tuk Tuk drivers and people you meet on the streets may have good intentions to help you explore, but it's best to follow your own inspirations. If you do your own research on google or youtube, you may find lots of interesting things to do. There are lots of places for sight seeing and food adventures. I believe Raja Bojun is the biggest buffet for Sri Lanka food. That might be worth to try different Sri Lankan flavors. If you like high end seafood, Ministry of Crab is top notch. Diyata Uyana/Wates Edge is also nice place. Also, if you like mix of Western and Sri Lankan buffet, Cinnamon Grand Hotel will be a good choice. They have good layout of food for lunch and dinner buffets, one of my favorites places to eat.

Here are some recommendations for places you can visit in colombo. Fort Dutch hospital, aluthkade streetfood , fort lighthouse, fort red mosque and main street, And you missed the gangaramaya main temple, viharamahadevi park, independance squre, arcade at independance square, beddagana wetland park, mt lavina beach(great vibe at evenings) , park street mews (at night) .
