I fly both the Carbon Z Cessna 150T and the Orange Carbon Z on floats. I found that in addition to using Corrosion X or a waterproof servo make sure you seal up all the unused mounting holes on the top of the floats and some soft foam around the back of the float where the the control rod connects to the rudder. Especially when you use reverse! Any water that gets into the floats can cause a forward and back CG issue with the balance as you fly. Also draining out the water can be a real pain. Like you I am a Real Timber Head and have flown Every version of the Timber except the first Giant Red/Orange Balsa Wood Version that came out in 2016. My first maiden flight on a Timber was 7/11/16 on the first 1.5m Red/White/Black Timber logged 218 flights! I keep log books for every plane and am now building the new SWS BNF!!!My Favorite Timbers so far have been the Blue black and white Turbo Tim and any Timber X! Thank You for your videos!!! @TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 11 ай бұрын
PA and EF models are ARF only and you'd have to buy all of the components, *then* build everything, install servos, the motor, and the ESC. Having built a few PA models ourselves, they're wonderful and we love them. But they aren't a BnF like this Timber. The price point is absolutely where it should be. You're not going to find anything else that can compete with the component pricing and quick assembly.

Jon, may be a stupid question but why not configure as 2 aileron 2 flap so you can do the easy mixing on Spektrum radios? At least that’s what I’m thinking for this type of bird…really not interested in some of the 3D stuff, but maybe I’m missing something. 1 flap would work too (given the type of flaps on the TT) I just wasn’t sure why you didn’t elect to use the radio’s crow option directly. Thanks! BTW bought this bird through your link this week.

Great flying and review, I never heard you talk about the price tag, $849, pretty hefty for a Horizon Hobby plane. Even if it is a 10/10. That price point puts that plane in with some pretty damn good competition. This piece is noticeably missing from a review video.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 11 ай бұрын
It's more expensive than foam because it's plywood and balsa and constructed very rigidly. Truth is, we put in 17 hours total and were up until midnight editing this video and that's one of a few things we didn't remember to toss in. Once you get down to the wire, it's gotta be pushed out. With regard to the price, both the ARF and BnF are competitively priced with similar models. On top of that, this is a true BnF, not an ARF kit that you have to glue, install servos, install a motor, install the ESC, install the receiver, run wiring, etc. $850 for what you get is phenomenal pricing.

@@TwoBrosRCWas not a criticism, just an observation. I appreciate your work, and do not claim to understand the sacrifices you make to do it. I feel like I do a lot for my channel and I have 100 subs. HaHa You are not incorrect, the model certainly holds value for the right person. I just think that price should be discussed in the video, you could have made those same very valid points to justify that price. There's an option in the manual to add extra cooling to this airframe if you're flying on hot days, but otherwise it should have no heating issues at all. The gear are stiff but you're never going to break them. The airframe will break long before the gear will. This is our favorite airplane so far - consider picking one up via bit.ly/TimberSWSBnF !

We'd say go with the Timber SWS BnF over the Bushmaster. It can do enough 3D to be fun and interesting and it's less expensive because it comes stock with everything needed to fly. Assembly is also almost as easy as putting together a foam plane. There's literally no glue involved at all. While we love 3D airframes and have built several PA models, the Timber is hands down the easiest one we've done so far.

I hooked up the ailerons and flaps the way you did here to get the crow set up but I am a little confused about AS3X and SAFE. it seems I remember when you use channel 6 for the 2nd aileron you cant use SAFE anymore is that correct? not that worried about not having SAFE as i normally don't use it except to play around with .. but it seems my AS3X isn't working either now. shouldn't it still work? Thanks
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 10 ай бұрын
You need to program the receiver so it understands what your wing and tail types are after making changes to run crow or full span flaps. Following this guide, you'll want to write down the AS3X values (if you plan to keep them), then factory reset the receiver from Other Settings in Forward Programming. Afterward, re-program it with the AS3X values you'd prefer to use. AS3X and SAFE can be enabled or disabled on the fly assuming you've set up Flight Modes in Forward Programming.
