Turkey is amazing. The Asian side is the best place to stay. Kadikoy is a cool neighborhood. If you take the subway over to the Asian side from the center it charges you for riding the whole line. Watch the locals leaving the station and they tap their cards on yellow machines by the door to the station. It refunds you most of the fare. Have fun!

It might be too late but I would suggest visiting the Anatolian side as well around Kadikoy/Moda, there are great pubs and local coffee shops to try out. Same with Caddebostan and Kuzguncuk.Nisantasi was also great on the European side.

I love Istanbul! It has so much history… It is a city founded by the Roman emperor Constantine and is more than 2000 years old… It was the last outpost of the Roman Empire. It is an exhilarating blend of Europe and Asia. It’s a beautiful place. The people are (Joel) friendly and the cuisine is amazing. My GF and I just ended a week in Istanbul, after you do the bazaar the Bosphorus and the mosque there’s only retail shops and coffee places..the food (with a very few exceptions was not tasty at all) and the people weren’t very hospitable. Maybe in the future we will try again but not for a long time.

I liked your video, you are cute, honest couple. Just one suggestion: have some reading about the land. There is a large literature about ancient civilisations like lydians, hittites, sumerians, greeks, persians, other Mediterranean, roman, bizantium, turkic civilizations and you are in one of the centers of all these combined. Rather than eating some cheap pastry, you may search for traces of those civilizations and reward yourselves with some sophisticated tastes. Like, one of best archeological museums of the world is in that city. You may contact with the local people and discover why they are called the most hospitable people on earth. Enjoy.
