Neumel are not waterproof or meant to be worn in the snow or slush. U can spray them in case u get caught in a rain shower but definitely not designed for bad weather.

That is correct. You wouldn't want to wear them out in deep snow, slush or rain with out a coating as you said. Due to the type of sole though you can wear them out on light snow dusting, or icy days, etc. You wouldn't want it to be any deeper than the rubber base though. However, we always coat our UGGs with the spray so we can enjoy them more without worry.
