I've had the ZT 609 for almost 3 years and never had to adjust the Pivot , I don't even own the tool , this knife is 1 of my favorite ZT's , I love the design and looks of the knife , especially the blade , it's nice and slicey , the lock up is still rock solid and the build quality is Fantastic , made in the USA , Baby .....👍👌✌🖖

The redwood scales with liner lock clone model is more attractive, Imo., and sports a high constructive quality, too.

I think this is going to be my overall favorite of the first 3 ZT's of 2018

I told myself I wouldn't buy a knife that needed a proprietary bit, but someone bought this and another in full black and liked that one better, and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse, sooooo... now I own one I've been back and forth on if I like this knife more than the 0460. The 20cv really shines on a knife in this price range, and it looks and performs wonderfully, but I just think I like the personality of the 0460 more, if I was going to carry a ZT in that size range. Luckily I can afford to keep both so it's more of which one do I want to carry than which do I want to keep.

I'm in love with this knife and it was going to be my next ZT but just found out from ZT that the special pivot tool will only be available early August. Not sure I can wait that long and I won't buy the 0609 without the tool. Come on ZT, surely you got to ship the knife with the tool.

Thanks for this nice overview. I’ll look forward to your full review. Personally I love the handle, especially for my XL hand in a “Flilipino” saber grip with my thumb resting in the indentation on the blade spine. Grip ergonomics are very individualized for each of us, are we are different not only in our hands but how we like to grip the knife. See what you think after some use.

I wish it had a lockbar stabilizer.

Talking to ZT at IWA, adding the STP Tool woul just add the 20-25$ to the price of the knife. Not everyone takes their knife apart so selling it as an option is okay with me. That saif, I'm eagerly waiting on it since cleaning my knife in hot water and soap is getting old quick.

I handled one in store and it is a nice knife.. I'd never buy one because of the pivot.. It's unbelievable ZT is selling these and who knows when the pivot tool will be out...

Great review... not a fan of their 2018 "Slim Fast" models... bring back the tanks! Also, agree... tool for pivot should be included... c'mon ZT!

Kev , the Real Steel Sea Eagle has a hole on the pivot , and I've had the knife for a year . And you don't need a tool , they stamped a hex head on the top of the hole , on each side , its a great idea , and works great also . I guess RS is just not as greedy as ZT. When "IS" the tool coming out anyway ? ? Anyone know ?

who doesn't love an rj martin, in my top 5 blade designers, the ti milling is kinda disappointing and these 2018s have less over kizers then ever before, i need internal milling to really get excited anymore, but as an idiot / knife collector i will buy one

Hey Kev , really nice piece , just a little too small for me also. As far as the see through pivot , I have a Real Steel Sea Eagle with a see through pivot and a see through clip bolt , their pivot is not round at the top , its slightly hexed , so you can use a standard hex head on it, its really a great idea , ZT should have done theirs that way , instead of charging for the tool , anyway , thats the biggest reason I haven't bought one , $240.00 for the knife + ??how much for the tool ??, Nope , they can keep it....

The pivot is see-through and you need a special tool to take it apart. Good for you ZT, except that Strider had you beat by a decade or two. What's wrong with torx or just a flathead?
@BMXfreak925 жыл бұрын
What do you mean it's maybe not available in two years? It's a full production knife isn't it?

It’s funny all the people complaining about the pivot tool lmao 😂
@PkwyDrive136 жыл бұрын
Strider has used see through pivots for over 10 years. Literally the dumbest thing marketing wise, just cause you can see through it doesn't mean it's cool or better. Plus Strider has had them for a long time

No hole drilled through the scales for a useless (to me) lanyard is a bonus but the ugly flat pig snout on the show side doesn't thrill me . Could they not just make a limited run of left handed models ? Kizer has done it .

The Lock up on this is Terrible. Half a mm ...or 1mm max ! A danger. That blade is awesome but a danger. Its a design flaw with this one Im being honest. Returning mine. The seller is unhappy but its not my fault.
