Love me some zero tolerance. Expensive yes but I’ve always been happy with everything. I wish they made more small knives though.

I think you're the only reviewer that doesnt feel it's a necessity to take your knives apart. I dont either unless I absolutely have to. I can understand too clean them out especially if they're on ball bearings but so far I've never needed to

Take a look at the Kershaw 7777 Bareknuckle. It’s slim, lightweight, made in the US, and compares very favorably to the ZT. 14c28n and aluminum instead of 20cv and titanium, but it’s also only about $70. A much better value in my opinion. That ZT is a beautiful blade though!
@meccagold20095 жыл бұрын
It is worth more than 70.

Not a fan of 14c28n because it's edge holding is not great but 20CV is awesome.

I’ve got lots of knives that use super steels. One of my favorites is my Hinderer XM18. But there is a point of diminishing returns with those steels. I find that 14c28n to be an excellent performer, especially with the edge that I put on it. Fortunately, there are excellent knives at every budget level. This is definitely one of them!

I was lucky enough to pick up the ZT 0609 and the ZT 0990 at my local gun shop on their Sidewalk Sale this weekend. I picked up both knives at a 50% off sale. Yep, both knives were $113 each. One thing you forgot to mention was the super strong detent. Both these knives are crazy to open and close right now due to that detent. My ZT 0609 did not come with a pivot tool. I’ll just order one from KnifeCenter as I have a gift card with them from their “knife points”. Great real world review.👍🏻

Got mine from Amazon too on that same sale...bougt the tool, took it apart and one of the bearing rings was put in backwards, was worth taking it apart, cleaned it lubed it, smooth as silk now...also if you like deep carry mxg gear has a nice bronze clip

My problem with ZT knives is that they ruined me for cheaper knives. I am used to smooth opening and closing knives and none of my under $100 knives work as well or feel as solid.

Love at 0350, however which choices available with excellent steels it’s hard to justify high priced knives even if I can afford. However I respect to each their own. I own premium shotguns n rifles I collected so I understand why people love high dollar knives.

People are so amazed to see through their pivots all of a sudden with ZT and Kershaw designs. Anyone heard of the Gerber Remix and tactical remix? Stick your finger through there and never ride up on the blade when bearing down on cuts.

We draw a line at the same $150 price point . I think I've broken it 2 or 3 times . One break left for the benchmade crooked river.

I have a Benchmade 940-1501. It's a 940 exclusive from knifeworks.com with black and blue g10 handles and it has the CPM-20CV steel. Same price as the ZT.

I have the purple one. To me the blade doesn't weigh enough. I bought the tool to take it apart. Mine never has opened easily. I also have two of the 0801, 1 is the TI and the other BRZ. They fly open.

There is a kizer on massdrop that looks almost the same titanium handles s35vn steel I believe for $99 I’d rather have the ZT but if U wanna save some cash maybe it’s for you though u have to wait a month to get delivery from massdrop a good amount of the time which sux plus made in America is important to me which kizer is made in China the last place I wanna buy a knife from but for those who don’t care it looked like a great option.

Zt hasn’t made anything hard, heavy duty, in years. I’m sorry but when I think ZT, I think something that (if taken to a real jobsite) will need constant disassembly to clean out grit from bearings. Most of their designs can be what they used to be, but bearings ruins their hard use reputation. As well as constant reports of framelock failures under minor use. Something hard use to me is the 06 auto, benchmade adamus, or anything cold steel. Frame lock and bearing is an insta turn off most of the time for me. I like framelocks, but it’s evident ZT doesn’t have them designed perfect. Bronze washers are a must for hard use, work knife, and generally are just as smooth. Heck, lionsteel uses Teflon a lot of the time and are dropshutting. I love this knife design and want to pick it up. But unless ZT stops with the bearing fad, they aren’t seen as the ‘hard use’ type anymore. At least to me. Great review man!!! And respect your opinion!!!
@sski19715 жыл бұрын
Hunter Glaspell GT during the review for this particular ZT said it wouldn’t be for heavy use.
@hunterglaspell55805 жыл бұрын
I found that out later. That’s the part I understood and agreed with. I’m saying when he said ZT in general is known for more beefy hard use knives, that’s when I put in the point that ZT hasent made anything like that in years and lost their ‘hard use’ name since. But yeah I see what your saying and it was a mistake on my end. Have a great day!!!
@hunterglaspell55805 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 100% except for the hard use knives not being good sellers anymore. Most company I know are getting into bigger knives, stronger locks, and so on. Crkt just came out with the that dead bolt knife that’s huge in the hand for average people, and it’s selling. They also came out with the jumbones, which is the crossbones but larger. So there still is a market for heavy duty, big knives. Your right, maybe Not as much now, but the market is constant evolving. Also, my experience with s30v is extensive, and the only brand I know that has chipping issues with it it’s buck. Gerber and benchmade temper their s30v a little softer, holding a great edc, but has no chipping. So there’s that to consider is heat treat as well. Otherwise I see what your saying. Have a great day!!!

Because Zt knives are well made tuff folding blades with top of the line materials and made in America Zt spyderco and Benchmade are my top 3 companies when it comes to folding knives just great unique companies that make great knives and better customer service than dealing with a dealer overseas she’s a beautiful knife I own 5 ZT folding blades and there all fantastic I’ve never had buyers remorse with a ZT blade

When you know a reviewer doesn’t understand what they are reviewing: In a knife like this, talking about a lack of a lanyard hole any longer than maybe saying “no lanyard hole” is stupid. It might be stupid even saying that. This is not that type of knife, nor is it marketed as such. This is a gentleman’s or edc carry. Not only that, but opining on how you might perhaps get a lanyard on a knife like this…on a pocket knife designed and marketed as a gentleman’s or edc carry??? Dumb
