Heading to Japan this season for 3.5 weeks with 10 days dedicated to riding. Picked up a Bataleon Surfer to take with me. So stoked! Loving all the Japan edits

Dude - my Bataleon Surfer has been such a difference maker for me - leaning WAY back and mashing down your toe or heel feels as good as punching a high-school bully in the nose! Bataleon could have just as easily named the Surfer the “Molly Brown” since I found its nose to be just plain unsinkable in last season’s epic Utah winter. Not the fastest base so you will want to keep it waxed-up good, but man is it the perfect deep-powder snowboard.

I am so stoked for the new season! I am getting older and physical therapy and exercise have become such a focus. Last year my knees said I can no longer do what I always have. I REFUSE! I have and will continue to be a lifty, ride 100+ days a year and catch the best of the pow! Let's go!

I had my first Pow day in Niseko back in 2014..... Nearly 10 years later im still here and call this place my home. I live down in Kyushu but every season i live and work from my Van all over Japan as can never stay in 1 resort. Just too many awesome places to ride and especially as alot of the resorts are getting tracked out there are always freshies to be had somewhere. Love it!! And awesome Vlog 🤙

Everyone keeps asking about the season in Niseko. Most Resorts open at the start of December around the 2nd or 3rd although some open a bit earlier like over in Rusutsu. A few of the resorts stay open until around may 7th with some closing earlier.

I was in Niseko last February. Had fun but man is that place expense. This year I have a trip planed for Hakuba and may be going to the US of A on the east coast to meat a friend for some lines of pow, if it's any good this season. I am getting hyped for this winter!

we've never needed chains, i assume the rental cars come with snow tires that time of year. the driving has been pretty mellow even during snow storms

Driving around the resorts and town is all super flat and the Japanese are really good at plowing and maintaining the roads, all cars use winter tyres

Can anyone help me out with what airlines to take for flying to Sapporo with the extra luggage? Taking my son in February for graduating with honors.

I always use Kayak to try and source the most cost effective flights. Cross referencing with google flights to double check. I've flown with most airlines at this point, I would say JLA is my favorite (feels like you're already in Japan as soon as you board) however Air Canada, and ANA are also fine. You should get 1 free checked bag on all the airlines, your board bag can count for that. If you book your leg from Tokyo to CTS with JLA i'm pretty sure you get two checked bags for free with your ticket.
