+ILoveBreakfast671 it was diliberatly designed like that. it makes it easier to read at higher speeds/rates of acceleration. if it's too busy it will be difficult to read. the rider will just have to know what's in between even numbers.

+ILoveBreakfast671 Most sportbike tacho's don't show all the numbers, they might show the first few 1000rpm but then usually go up in 2000rpm increments. The BMW S1000rr does, my street triple does, it's very common and saves space on the display by allowing the other numbers to be larger and easier to read.

I winced a bit when he revved it up pretty hard. But then I remember that it's a flagship bike of 2016. I'm pretty sure it'd be fine with some revs after a quick warm up. But that 5 not lighting up was bugging me.

It's intentional, after 4k rpm the lights light up every 2k revs.

It's comical watching a bike being delivered, because you can almost always tell who the owner is, he / she is the one with the "new bike grin". =) On Saturday I picked up a 2015 R1 in NYC and I overheard one of the customers in the showroom say that it had to be my bike, because of the subtle grin of contentment on my face.

Unique looks, incredible technology and I just love the mirror-coated black finish but I can't see many of these selling in the UK. The dealer price is £22,000 ($34k - 9 grand higher than the price in the US) and for a 40 year-old rider with 15 years riding experience the 'cheapest' insurance quote is £7,000 ($10.8k)!!!

New expensive bike. Yet Kawasaki uses the same key blade as my 89 Ninja. It's amazing how long moto companies keep the same key blade for so long and use it on all of their vehicles. At least brands like Ducati, Aprilia, and Honda overseas use a transponder.
