Daniel, I love that you are more adventurous these days. I know something like this doesn't get much views, but if you watch some of the Sonic Youth concert footage from Europe you will see how respected and loved they are in other countries. The US never really embraced them like other places in the world did. Love your channel. The mix of old and new music is great. You are going to have a great career.

The guitar sound uses feedback which is to say that the volume from the amp is loud enough to cause the strings to vibrate in sympathy and it’s is a technic unto itself. Sonic Youth were very good at this especially live. I can’t help but notice some similar dna from the Television song. I don’t know if this is a drug song. Great reaction

This album was so talked about back when I was in high school. Now it's kind of forgotten by a lot of people. Thanks for taking a chance and listening to this wonderful album. Much of the older crowd doesn't appreciate you listening to this, but I really think you are awesome for giving this a chance.

Daydream Nation is probably their best album and most popular along with Goo. But its a great album one of Kurt Cobains favourite albums

I didn't think you'd return to "Daydream Nation", but it's certainly a wise move. This was my first Sonic Youth album back in the day and introduced me to a whole different approach to the guitar with its controlled feedback and strange tunings. Sides 3 and 4 are more experimental, but the whole album is worth sticking with! Changing bands for a moment, is your continuation of Talk Talk's "The Colour Of Spring" in the pipeline?

Dang, Daniel this is your cup of tea. OMG! The distortions of the guitar on this track. Intense. Underrated Sonic Young. Very hip. I imagine them as teenagers 15 to 17 yrs old in the lead singers garage playing tunes for fun. It’s Summer vacation from school, the band are playing all day til the sun goes down. Then lead singers Father pulls into the driveway. The Dad says” Hello Conner, do you know what time it is? Time to tell your friends goodnight, this is the dinner hour and we should be in the house. Conner says “ I hear you Dad. Grumbling under his breath. See you guys tomorrow.” Conner gives each friend a hive five as they leave garage. I don’t know why I was rambling on. This is so…. Hahaha. I just had an image of this band as teenagers before becoming Sonic Youth. I want to be a writer for short stories.

Nice. My favorite album of them is Murray street, but my favorite song is The diamond sea, there are three versions, each one longer that the previous. I think the one that appears on their album Washing machine is the right one to check first. Thx 🤙

Fantastic song from an amazing album. Heard it for the first time when I was already over thirty. It was the first SY album that I've heard and I really loved it. I had heard many individual songs from them, but had never listened a entire Sonic Youth album. I just regret not listening it before. A great band with many excellent tracks and albums. Daydream Nation, Goo and Dirty are the most satisfying albums they have made. But their catalogue is much wider than that and deserves a in-depth look at it. Waiting for the rest of the album. Thanks!

I think you'd really like Total Trash from this album. Plus, Sonic Youth has some real gems from earlier in their life, when their sound was more basic, raw and feels like it just is a natural expression (if you can believe that) Green Light, Starpower, Death Valley 69, Tom Violence, Expressway to Yr Skull, Stereo Sanctity, Schizophrenia...

I wonder where those factoids come from. Forced Exposure was never a Canadian label. Forced Exposure started as a fanzine in the early 1980's until their last issue in the early 90's who occasionally released records before morphing into one of the larger independent record distributors and they've always been based in Massachusetts in and around Boston.

I remember Sonic Youth. Well know from alternative radio in the 90's. Very underrated. Dude, this song Silver Rocket sounds alot like "Distorted Waves." Surreal. That breakdown distortion shreds. Purely aggressive. So you were inspired by this band. 😎

They were a stage of flailing electric chaos live during their Daydream Nation era and before. Screwdrivers and whatnot stuck between detuned guitar strings, exchanging energies between band and audience. I can occasionally find myself in the mood for Murray Street and Sonic Nurse era albums every so often. Their earlier stuff not so much anymore.

I believe “Silver Rocket” sounds familiar because you said, you recently watched Requium for a Dream. That movie is about teens or young adults who are heroin addicts and also addicts to even harder drugs. I heard that movie is a tough watch. I heard the hallucinations were tripppy to nightmarish. Director Daron Aronofsky makes dark nightmarish movies.

If you liked this you should try Eleventh Dreamday, a similar band out of Chicago.
