FIRST LOOK - 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Baldwin Motion - BARRETT-JACKSON 2023 SCOTTSDALE AUCTION

Lot 1418 - This Baldwin Motion 1968 ‪@Chevrolet‬ Camaro RS/SS has documentation from NCRS confirming the original dealer as Baldwin Chevrolet, with owner history to day one - an original, unrestored time capsule. It has original body panels and paint (some touch-up), 100% original interior, original born-with Cowl Tag confirming this is indeed a factory black/black built per the Trim Tag, which is coded 11C, indicating the third week of November 1967, which is the model year 1968. It is powered by the original 427/425hp GM engine as installed by Motion Performance, and still retains the original broach marks and machine code of T1117ID indicating November 17 assembly as 425hp; cast K77 indicating November 7, 1967; and casting pour with 840 square-port heads cast K27 indicating a November 2, 1967, casting pour. It is equipped with the original GM intake with Motion 3-barrel carburetor modification and the original 3-barrel Holley carburetor. It has the original traction bars made by LAB machine attached to the original GM 4.56 posi-traction coded rear end with stick-welded tubes by Motion Performance. This car also has its born-with M21 close-ratio 4-speed transmission with GM-matching VIN stamp. It has the Motion-installed early-style Lakewood bell housing with two-piece inspection cover and Motion-installed original aluminum Schaefer flywheel, as well as the original date-coded GM power brake booster and master cylinder, and original 4-piston front disc brake calipers. The car also features the Motion-installed fly-eye air cleaner, dual-point Mallory distributor, electric fuel pump in trunk, die-cast valve covers and Ram Charger salmon ignition wires. It comes complete with the original Motion-installed Sun Tach and gauges, along with the original Hurst shifter. The original predecessor to the COPO, this is an original unrestored black/black Baldwin Motion Camaro, with its original 427/425hp engine as installed by Motion Performance before its original sale by Baldwin Chevrolet - a true unrestored Baldwin Motion Camaro in exceptional condition.

I bought a new 68 SS when i go out of the army in 68. 4 speed, hurst shifter, 350, positive traction, heavy duty suspension and big tires. Corvette blue with vinyl top, coupe. Loved that car. First wife made me sell it.

My first car was 1967 Camaro SS/RS metallic gold black vinyl top. I sorta worked it a lot, had extra tires and black rims to quickly swap. It was only a 350/295 but bias tires melted and threw little gobs of rubber I had to clean. Dad asked how I got tar on only the back quarters??? He knew. No. reserve it will not need one.

Can’t imagine many of these made it this far! Most were drivin’ like they stole ‘em back in the day I’m sure! At 55 and I got some dings and dents to be expected, but for this ‘69 to make it this far this nice tells me she was well cherished. Gonna find a good home I’m sure

Lost my RS/SS in 72, Drunk guy driving home at 6:30 am from an overnight Divorce party at a blind pig. Ran a light and broadsided me on the pass side. Totaled the car. Nice car...

I remember the Oil Embargo days of the 70’s. Everyone panicked when gas went from 50¢ to $1.00. Muscle cars galore were going for sale cheaply. They just wanted to get rid of them guzzlers. A lot of them went to young drivers who either abused them and ended up in junkyards.

Mine was new ‘67 SS/RS 350/295hp what 16 year olds need, not! I redlined that poor car in every gear but 4th. Got squat on next trade wish I had kept it but I was in love traded for more sensible. The first X wife.
