From 5 shercos in our area all had cracked subframes and had to weld it at some point. 2018 model had extremely bad clutch plates, replaced multiple sets(2021 have new plates so probably it is solved). overall quality is bad. rear brake pedal sticks out too much and breaks easily, gear lever weak and breaks much easier then ktm, friend had broken gearbox 2 times... ok, they are not that bad but definetly are not as good as people think they are. but yes carb, vforce reeds, fmf exhaust are nice.

@@maucina12 ya but these aren't deal-breakers dude. Much like KTM and having starter issues with the earlier 2t models, or TPI tuning issues that cost much more outa the box, and Beta continuing to have issues with failed bottom end bearings. They all have issues but quality brands will stand behind their products and further navigate these issues. I can't count how many pedals and shift levers on my KTM I replaced and if it was an issue I'd be a knitpicker. I had multiple buddies repeatedly with bendix and starter issues on Pre2017 models and KTM fixed it. In fact, I used to make fun of the fact they always kicked their new KTM'S despite having E-start. I don't hold this against KTM and I certainly won't hold subframe issues or clutch plate issues against Sherco. As far as the base gasket issues or even the subframe I'm sure Sherco has already heard about it and will make the necessary provisions if not already on the 21's. Merry Xmas!

Where I live these bikes are the same price but a lot more technology is in the tpi. Yes the KYB suspension is great and Sherco have it set very well but for me I'd need to re-valve either bike for my weight anyway. With the Sherco you save a bit by not needing to add a fan but I'd be spending money on a Smartcarb 2 for it right away. Yes jetting is simple but if you ride big elevation changes the tpi is a huge advantage. As far as tpi being down on power, lol. Not many people I know can use all the power any 300 two stroke has. The idle, add the idle screw for $25 (or make one for $5) if you feel you need it. You are wrong on the fuel mileage, my tpi with a 8.5L tank will go 100+ Km, I'd like to see how far the Sherco would get on a tank. And KTM made the tank smaller to make room for the oil tank not because "they thought it did not need a larger tank". I would consider a Sherco for my next ride but not based on a "sexy rating".
@madMX964 жыл бұрын
you will not get close to KYB with any Xplor revalve unless you buy complete close chamber cartridges(1500plus), ask Cody Webb why keihin is better than smart carb and yes Sherco will use bit more fuel, my 2018 250 Ser takes same as tpi tho...3hrs CrossCountry race with 1 tank.
@PNWEnduro4 жыл бұрын
@@madMX96 KYB is hard to beat for sure, probably the best suspension you can get on a bike off the showroom floor and Sherco has the valving set up pretty good already. I would still need to spend money to get it re-sprung for my weight though. I've tested Keihin, Mikuni, Lectron, and Smart Carb and I feel like the SC is the best. Cody may have a different opinion and that's fine but the Keihin cant self-adjust for elevation like a Lectron or SC can. Most enduro bikes will do a 3hr race on one tank but if you are doing 7-8 hour rides in the mountains 100+ kilometers going from 2000-8000' a SC will out perform any traditional carb. I've done a few of these rides where one tank was enough on a SC equipped bike while bikes with stock carbs packed extra fuel and needed all of it to get home.

A proper efi system, one that uses all the sensors to account for rpm increases and altitude changes will be great. There is a very easy way to siphon fuel from a fuel tank. Take a damp rap, a hose. Stick hose down into the fuel tank, wrap the damp rag around the hose & make sure both are sealed tight to the hose & tank opening. Blow into the hose. Keep blowing several times close off the end of the hose. This will prevent you from drinking fuel. Put hose end in other empty fuel tank or can & unblock the hose. The fuel will flow until you pull the hose out of the fuel tank that your are siphoning from.

I’ve done it in fuel tanks as large as a car. That took sometime but it worked. Remember if air leaks the fuel won’t flow because of no built up air pressure. The rag does not need to be damp, it just seals better when damp. Try it it will save you from being a lethal walking mouth bomb. LoL.

I was on the fence between Sherco and Husky but went Husky due to the TPI and can say well worth it for me. Race Harescrambles and Enduros and seems to be super easy to ride at race pace. I will say, your correct that some TPIs are just different. Mine seems to be on point with zero issues this season with only adjustment being the Power Valve spring adjustment. But, other riders I know seem to say theirs is lethargic compared to mine. So, has to be something to that. after riding Kawasaki for years and moving to a 19 TPI last year i've not been very impressed. It's a lot better with the red power valve spring in, that brought it to life a lot. I like the way the bike rides and feels. HOWEVER the bike let me down on sunday in the middle of a timecard enduro at the best venue i've ever ridden. not sure what the issue is but i've noticed a spark arcing from the throttle position sensor to the choke lever. The bike will not start at all. the TP sensor is £225 to replace and may not be the issue. i've spoke to 2 KTM dealers to see if they can plug it in to diagnostics on of which i was driving past today an hour from home, they asked if i bought the bike from them and when i said no any help they may have offered suddenly became a 4-5 week wait. i went in that dealer today for a starter relay £50 to see if that cured the issue and had some stern words with them about issues with the tpi's and build quality and was told "competition bikes" only have a 30 day warranty. not a ride time warranty, 30 days, so you might buy a bike and by the time you get to ride it your warranty may already be over. i've had issues with the crank case pressure sensor like most people they're £100 each to replace, and i've found theres always corrosion, chaffing and snapping of connectors in the wiring loom. i've lost 2 side stand return springs and the little piece they hook on to. all of the bolts and fixings are rusty, i've had front/ rear wheel and headset bearings go recently and was told by the shop ktm use smaller weaker bearings that other brands. and the original light and kill switch melted and burnt out. as much as i like riding the bike i feel like every time i ride it theres something else i need to fix, weather it be something thats broken or something causing it not to run correctly. it costs me a fortune in upkeep, the parts are seriously expensive, KTM main dealers are never interested in helping and i don't think i'l buy another one when i move to Australia

Re the complaints of comparing a base level KTM to the factory Sherco. I think it is a fair comparison, they cost the same and imo a six days or erzberg is mostly more bling rather than performance upgrades, no upgraded suspension or anything else to justify the price increase. Still, a Sherco dealer doing a comparison like this is going to be biased.

The engine is only part of the puzzle. Would be interesting to hear more about the ergonomic differences, especially things you can't easy change/tune - like turning radius, seat height, ground clearance...etc.
@danhopkinson28112 жыл бұрын
@Dmitriy Adv seat height is lower than the ktm, as is ground clearance. I test rode a 2023 SE300 a few weeks back but wasn't given much time on it by the dealer. without changing bars and suspension settings it's hard to say if I liked it. i'm 6ft and bone stock I felt the bars were low for me and the pegs high giving a bit of a cramped feel. the forks were stiff set as they were, but I didn't get chance to soften them up on the clickers. definitely felt very different to the WP i'm used to with the EXC. the 300 2T motor was impressive. very responsive and had loads of bottom end. I found the clutch pull noticeably heavier than the KTM and the bike stalled a lot as if the clutch was dragging. I thought the overall quality and feel of the bike was cheap compared to the other brands with a real plasticy feel to parts and the side stand looks like it would snap if you looked at it. However, I am talking about the factory 2023 model, the 21 on show in the video actually looks much better as the 23 comes in a dull dark blue and black colour scheme with a black seat and glossier cheap looking plastics. I am however still considering buying a Sherco here in Australia because the factory model comes with a fan, billet clamps, axp bash plate, mapping switch and fmf pipe stock for $15,500aud. while the bone stock EXC costs $17,880aud with none of those things. I'd be paying 2380bucks more for the ktm and then have another 1000 or so to spend on it to get basic things every enduro bike should have. Having owned a ktm I know parts are extortionate compared with other brands, ktm customer service is an absolute joke, and their 30 day warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on.
@DmitriyAdv2 жыл бұрын
@@danhopkinson2811 I appreciate the details! I’m in the US - Sherco and KTM are priced pretty similarly here, but KTM has a much better/easier resale, making it a better choice from a financial standpoint. Parts for KTMs are a bit more expensive, but you can buy them everywhere. I think there are a lot of great choices nowadays, so just choose what works better for you. The KTM/Husky/GasGas enduro bikes (spring forks) work great for me out of the box when it comes to feel and ergonomics. I usually have to tinker with the suspensions, but am very happy with the stock Xplor and don’t even need to mess with the clickers much. At 5’11” and 175lbs, I feel like the bikes are made for me
@danhopkinson28112 жыл бұрын
@@DmitriyAdv oh wow I didn't know prices varied like that. It's incredibly annoying that you pay top whack here for a KTM but get such a low spec for that compared with other brands. even the Reiju I looked at the other day comes with KYB, Xtrig anodised clamps, talon wheels with anodised hubs, e start AND kick start and an FMF pipe for a few thousand dollars less than the KTM. I agree though, KTM will have better resale value, and before committing to buying something i'm checking parts supply ect. seems easy enough to get parts for Sherco here in Aus, however there's a serious lack of aftermarket parts available. even getting graphics made seems tricky. while companies offer probably 50-60 customisable designs for other brands they've got about 3 for Sherco.
@DmitriyAdv2 жыл бұрын
@@danhopkinson2811 the Rieju is a great deal and comes with a lot of bling while still being cheaper than all the other bikes. I had a 2018 GasGas 300 (same as the current Rieju MR) and it was a good bike. Felt a bit heavy and old school compared to my current Husky, but for the price it's a great deal, especially for a bigger person. In terms of MSRP, the Sherco is the most expensive 300 in the US (see list below). They positioned themselves as a boutique brand here, and are priced accordingly. Price is of course just part of the equation. If one bike works better for you than another out of the box, than a few hundred dollars is not a big deal, as it's easy to spend that much on a suspension revalve alone. US MSRPs: KTM 300 XCW - 11,099 Husqvarna TE300 - 11,199 GasGas EC300 - 10,399 Beta 300 RR-Race - 10,399 Beta 330 RR - 9,899 Sherco 300 Factory - 11,849 Rieju MR - 9,499 Rieju MR Pro - 10,499

@Dmitriy Adv I’ve heard great things about the Reiju. And they were good when they were gasgas before ktm bought them. In terms of cost difference, if it was just a few hundred bucks i’d probably go with another KTM as it would be familiar, but its not a few hundred here. Its a full $2,380 dollars difference! Which is crazy. Then to put some parts on to get a similar spec to the Sherco i’d have to throw another $1500-2000 dollars at the ktm on top. So it would make the pice difference more like 3880-4380

You can install an idle screw for like $5 in parts, literally, them tune the air screw and idle seperate. That's cheaper than a black of jets. Yes, KYB suspension is great. But the new WP stuff is also excellent. Comparing a Factory edition to standard XC-W then talking about the lack of bling. Then, tpi mom efficient and down on power?? Say what?? I get 60 to 70 miles on my 2.2 gallon tank. I can easily go through a 2-hour GNCC hair scramble without an issue. You're comparing a stock bike against a factory edition. You should be comparing the KTM Erzberg with the Sherco Factory. Regarding the TPI - You can change the idle and adjusting it does not make it fail in the mid range. You can also adjust the air bypass screw to assist with tuning the air/fuel mixture. You can get a lot more horse power out of them by having them tuned and performance heads are also available. A lot of what you're saying about the TPI is not correct. If you have the money you can tune the KTMs, eg Get or Vortex ECU, 1000 bucks, etc etc, KtM race team can make em work and others have kits available as well, again for the money a KTM / Husky, soon to be Gas/Gas, costs you shouldn’t need to spend that level of mods to get it to perform at ready to race level. Sherco, Beta, for my money. you can get better tuning out of both of them upgrade with a Stic M rod my fav, or go Lectron or Smart Carb 2 and not worry about jets and elevation issues. But you can’t argue with KTMs success in racing like WESS and other forms of racing so performance is there if you have the wallet for it. Re sexy! the KTM 6 days is a better comparison to the Factory edition Sherco, if you did the Sherco Race ( base edition ) to the base KTM then other than dollar value it’s not near as sexy as the Factory edition not close, it’s still way cheaper than a base KTM and you even have the same suspension brand, different. valving etc, no PDS for those about to roast me, but that’s a true comparison.

Agreed! We have a 21 KTM laying around so we figured we’d do a bit of a comparison

Sexy..! like I always say "It don't matter if you're broke & starving ...as long as you look GOOD." 😎 Its almost time for me to upgrade to a serious off-road\enduro machine.....I'm steering toward Beta or Sherco for all the reasons you you bring up here.

A better comparison would be the KTM erzbergrodeo version. These two bike are a bad comparison.

Mapping switch, fan, quick release for the seat, easy ECU flashing - "that's value". Bling / sexy - meh... will trash it in the dirt anyway :)

The 21 XCW anXC's have the same engine and tuning. Only 1st and 2nd gear are slightly different

That sherco sure does look nice, but it’s a pretty unfair comparison, it should of been compared to a ktm 6 days edition, which far better looking that the standard version and have a lot of extras on them just like the sherco factory edition, so being honest about his is a very one sided and likely biased comparison.....

We did an updated comparison where we compared a factory ktm

Why compare a factory sherco with a standard ktm and not with a 6 days ? Also in Australia the sherco se-r does not come with a skid plate or a radiator fan . The sherco Oem Tyres suck 👎 And if your going to do a genuine comparison video try not being biased straight from the start lol plus for the tpi you can tune them and change the idle via a simple mod , my tpi also has double the fuel Mileage. 30 hours in my tpi no issues my mates sherco multiple issues and needed rejetting straight away ...

They are all great bikes and all that matters is people are having fun. We currently don’t have a 6 days KTM to compare to the Sherco
