First Look | 2023 Mazda CX-50 Premium Plus in Ingot Blue

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 Premium Plus is a wonderful vehicle with all of the added premium features that compares to the top trims of most competitors. This CX-50 is the 2.5 L naturally aspirated model that has 187 HP and great fuel economy.
The Premium Plus adds features such as ventilated front seats, active driving display, and auto power-folding side mirrors. My favorite feature is the 20" wheels that are found on the Turbo models also. This vehicle is Ingot Blue which is a brand new color for Mazda. It's in between the Eternal Blue and Deep Crystal Blue we've had for years.

I just bought a CX 50 Preferred Plus last week in this color. Love the car, nice mix of Mazda driving but geared to those of us who liked the outdoors. Not as sporty as the 2021CX 30 Turbo PP I traded in, but that's to be expected. I do miss the Bose audio, but didn't want the Turbo as the CX 30 was starting to use more oil.

It is a very smooth driving vehicle too cx50 hugs the roads in my opinion just feels wonderful

That Ingot Blue is a color that could get me to change from my favourite Soul Red Crystal Metallic.

This color was one of the three color choices that were available in the premium plus non-turbo CX 50s that I went to test drive. TheIngot blue was nice but it was still looking too dark in person. I ended up buying the soul red crystal metallic color!

I wish they would have integrated the radar with the Mazda logo, like in the CX 5. The lower location will make it more susceptible to damage! Hopefully the housing is extra durable.

I love the changes to the grill compared to the CX-5 (which I also love), but when I saw one of these in person I was really surprised by just how much the increased width seemed overly bulbous. I'd need to see one again with a little more time

Beautiful car. Who could want more ? The width of your country's roads must make it so much easier to drive than in the UK. We all have our design preferences. Mine should be just to refashion it into an ordinary road car, with body-coloured wheel arches. Always enjoyed your great enthusiasm. Mazda really are making the most fabulous cars. I've had my CX5 GT Sport since last September, and it's wonderfully comfortable. I'm very sorry to see the capitulation to electric has begun. Increasingly few can remember how most of today's standard features were only seen in the most expensive cars at one time, and none of the safety improvements. If they did, they'd come to appreciate them a great deal more. Thanks.

Sat in the CX-50 this week at the dealer. It wasn't as comfortable as the CX-5 or CX-30. I just don't get the attraction. It's not a serious off-road vehicle and the CX-5 beats it in most categories. It does look off-road kind of like my CX-30.

I had the opposite effect when I test drove both of them back to back. For some reason the seats in the CX 5 that I test drove actually felt firmer than the ones in the CX 50

I love the look, and entered expecting to prefer the 50, but after test driving both repeatedly, I found myself preferring the 5 more and more. For me, the seats in both are comfortable. I just prefer the higher seating position in the 5. I felt too sunk down in, like the seats sat too low in the 50. Both look great inside and out. Both drive very well too, though I feel like the handling is just slightly better on the 5 though.

I went for a test drive and saw one of the CX50s back trim panel (where the tail gate is) was loose about 5mm gap. Unless it got into an accident somewhere. Made in America vs Made in Japan.

Just bought one this color 😎 You mentioned the cargo mat. I want one for my car, looked on Mazda parts website see one listed but no description or picture. Is it the all weather rubberized material?

How much is it? They have 2 versions. One that completes the carpeted floor mats ( its black and has the cx-50 logo - that one is sub $150) and the other is the all rubber one that is grey colored and also covers the back of the back seats (for sub $250). Either one can be picked up at the dealership parts dept.

I bought a new 2021 Mazda CX-5. I believe the CX-50 has the same engine. It burns engine oil from day one and getting progressively worse. I looked up and found a bulletin for my car to be repaired. I took it in and they agreed that my car fell under that bulletin according to the VIN but, that I had to wait for the engine light to come on. By my calculation that won't happen until one oil change after my warranty is up. Don't take a chance and buy Mazda’s. They don't stand by their product unlike Honda. Mazda will do whatever it takes to avoid paying to fix the problem, even when they themselves admit that there's a problem. My advice, stick to Hondas and Toyotas. I’ve had problems with their cars in the past but, they always fixed my warranty issues without question and after that they ran forever. Don’t fall for talking point that Toyota and Mazda are now collaborating and even use the same assembly line. It means nothing. There's a class action lawsuit against them (Haven't responded). I personally have filed with the Mazda, BBB, Attorney General, and a consumer agency. It's been two weeks and nothing. I'm lining up a lawyer as my last resort. Don't go through this hell, buy a Toyota or Honda instead.

The CX-50s are NOT off-road vehicles. I wish all the reviewers would not push this to the general public. Subarus ARE off-road vehicles, not Mazdas. Will this color be available on the CX-5s?

Sadly, like GM and Chrysler, Mazda is having issues with their cylinder deactivation. Cylinders 1 & 4 are programmed for the CD, and cylinder 4 is having the HLA problem. Google it, it’s becoming a problem for all 2018 and up, all 2.5 NA motors both in warranty and out of. Stick to the 2017 and older ones, that is what I will be doing when my 2011 CX7 dies.

😕 I understand if you go with Signature trim which is turbo, that engine does not have CD. Signature trim is the only trim I want now but it costs more of course. I like crisp sharp HUD and 360 camera. Very nice high res
