TREK themselves in an internal company memo stated they had to reduce SKUs to keep costs under control. This is the reason for this bike, not because the pros "wanted it." Lets keep it real and leaving the marketing talking points out.
@BigBearBikes6 ай бұрын
Sorry, we have to disagree. The Pros wouldn't ride it unless the performance was as good or better. They have short careers and a win can be life changing for them. The overall package is improved. Once you check out the bike 'in the flesh' you'll be impressed. All the best, BBB 👍.

@@BigBearBikes My main focus is on uphills. Speed is not the most important thing for me. I don't race. It would also be my first road bike. So far I've only ridden a Scott Spark RC MTB. Would the Madone 8 be a good choice for me?
@kevinclark50866 ай бұрын
This is the exact model im looking at and thinking of getting. For me personally i prefer more endurance/more comfortable bikes so this suits my taste more than previous madone which i found a tad aggressive position wise. But it is quite a bit heavier and only 105 groupset compared to my giant defy advanced ultegra clag current bike. Id really have to ride one. No denying its a great looking bike but at the price it has to perform great as well.

I see what they were trying to do here by blending the two models, but this just doesn’t get the mix right for me. I think I did a better job by buying my 2024 Emonda SL7 and strapping ENVE 65s onto it. Maybe Trek should have tried a recipe of aero’ing up the Emonda rather than trimming the Gen 7 Madone?

What I'd like to have asked is when you remove the $100 x 2 aero water bottles and the $650 aero bar, i.e. every model that's not a 9000 usd slr and up, how much slower is it than a gen 7 madone aerodynamically? I would guess it's slow enough that if you're buying an sl tier bike it's a better idea to just go with the gen 7 madone on a discount from a local shop and eat the 2-300g penalty on the sl frame and fork which will hardly make a difference. Plus the sl6 gen 7 bike comes with carbon aero bars while the gen 8 comes with round alloy. Like the bike a lot but it's a little sad. I'm sure anything below the top tier bikes are compromized like any brand, I just wish they would be open about it, even if they have to word it in a pretty way. I just hope no one with an sl gen 7 feels like they got cheated into buying a bike that's already obsolete. You probably have the faster bike and you don't even need to use special bottles. Only exception i guess would probably be if this new one was significantly more comfortable or stiffer in the BB which always feels great for the sprints/climbs

Many thanks for the comment. We've started to put some miles on the SL, starting last Sunday, with a hilly, 90 miler. It had an excellent balance of abilities at its price point. The handling was very confidence inspiring, you could feel the aero benefit at high speed, the frame compliance & comfort was excellent and the bike climbed well. Please seek one out yourself for a test ride. Thanks BBB 👍
