I found digging around water sources, you can find salt in scattered areas. On the moons, salt can be found in some craters just below the surface. I've found sulfur is tough to find anywhere but on lava planets and in loot boxes, hopefully that changes on a future update. Edit.. there are different types of rocks scattered about now. Some of them will have salt and graphite as well as crushed stone.

You can also pick up bones from the skeletons you find laying on the ground.

If that includes the bones on dead planets, it would give a good reason to explore them.

I was about to say something about Reforged Eden 2 coming out soon. It seems the beta is out now. I won't bother until it reaches experimental release.

Makes sense. The main reason for doing this series is to try and get a handle on the changes to ship building.

@@StephenSilverbeard I changed my mind. When I get done with the starter system in vanilla I will check out Reforged Eden. I need to visit each planet in the starter system. I am still visiting each of the starter moons. Adding the MX5 to my blueprints list. I'll get the MX5 then go collect more resources for a CV. I just don't have the 1.7k neo and need about 500 or so more cobalt for Spanj's hammerhead starter. This new vanilla start is very difficult finding neo and cobalt. Oh I salvaged the abandoned base and Com array after completing the mission for it. I got a good bit of cobalt I needed from fuel tanks etc. My abandoned base poi had less than 100 neo. .I didn't get much neo. I got a couple hundred of the zeno blocks which are not useful starting out. I think I need to look for ship wrecks and try to salvage CV engines using the MX5. I need to build several cores too I will want the full CV thrusters not parts.

At alien nests, dig down in the center and you will find a body. I saw the dead crew fall through one time and every nest I've checked always has a dead body.

The wreckages around your landing area are debuffed now. But with that said, the abandoned POI'S on the starters is very good.

Assuming you can get a seed which spawns iron ore nuggets, I actually think that the Dread start is a lot easier than some of the 'medium difficulty' starts. It will be interesting to see what's like in RE2

Like the Dread start, was not sure if it was stable in the beta release.
