Hi mate, seem like you having the best sleep in the wild,so comfortable. I received mine today. My question to you is , did you have to seam sealed the tarp please? I opted for Skjold 10 camo instead of UL one , exactly the same dimensions except slightly heavier. I honestly can't wait to try it . Any advice before I do as I'm bit heavy handed.
@TimRobson302 жыл бұрын
Awesome welcome to the Amok gang hahaha, I have used my tarps a few times without seam sealing them the normal weight fabric fairs better in rain than the ultralight but I’m now going to seal both my skjold and skjold 10ul because water eventually got through on my last camp. My only advice would be to add some form of drip lines onto your hammock suspension, water is a pain for soaking down the straps, a bit of paracord or some metal clips will work or a full conversation to whoopie slings like I did with my camouflage 4.0 Draumr. Any other questions please don’t hesitate
@farid56612 жыл бұрын
@@TimRobson30 thanks mate, much appreciated. I haven't checked yet the hammock but I believe it's got some kind of rain drip integrated. Still I will take your advice and add paracord drip on the safe side. May I ask where you got your woopie sling from as I was looking at Dutchware ones. Time consuming from usa.

@@farid5661 DD hammocks stock a whoopie sling set mate it’s really good. Yeh the integrated water baffle isn’t very good unfortunately, they got it spot on with the 3.0 didn’t have one on the 4.0 and brought it back for the ultralight and the 5.0 but it’s not as good. Always here to talk amok!

That's a fine-looking bit of kit - nice review, Tim. Good that you got it, and good for you for doing a solid, honest, real world review for them. I was about to ask about the bug net, and then you showed it, so that's covered. Nice! I seem to remember you are using (or have used) the Snugpak 5 in the Amok? Does that work well for you? Somehow, I can imagine a centre zip bag working well, but am only guessing. Interested in your views on this. Cheers!

I’m glad I remembered to film the big net it has just as many updates as the whole hammock they really hit the nail on the head with this design. Is there a major difference in wind between the standard and UL versions? And if you were going out in temps between 4 and -12c, would you take the UL or standard?
@TimRobson303 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say there is a major difference, just a little more airflow in the UL. If I was going out in -12 I would bring my standard version remember now that the UL and standard have the same features. I would get one of the 5.0 Draumr hammocks and the winterlight sleep pad. All the best

I’m sorry I’m not sure what regular version you mean, there have been 5 versions. The new ultralight and the bee regular draumr both have the same changes from the 4.0 model but one is lighter. If you have the 3.0 or 4.0 model there will be different features on the new one. If you have a regular hammock and that’s what your talking about then yes of course it is better. Lots better

@@John_P290 cool no problem. I don’t see there being a huge difference in comfort between the 5.0 and the UL they both recline exactly the same level and are as long and wide as each other, the straps for the UL are lighter weight and narrower so there is a little more give compaired to my 4.0 camo. There may be a tiny bit of extra comfort to be found in the UL sleeping pad because of the fabric it is made from but I always use my red one as it’s warmest. I hope this info helps. All the best

I sleep on my stomach and I have tried sleeping in a regular hammock using different techniques like laying at an angle and such. I just can't sleep well.
