It's crazy how affordable these "fancy dealer-level scan tools" have become. You're the best tester in the field, Keith :)

I've wondered when someone would develop a full function, bi-directional VCI/Dongle system for our smart phones. Finally! Thanks Keith for this video! Well, I went ahead & pulled the trigger & signed up for one. As a retired Tech, I couldn't justify nor afford a "regular" bi-directional scan tool, so this fits the bill nicely! Keith, you're not only a great diagnostician & teacher, but a great salesman too! Update: after using the clunky scan tools at the dealerships throughout the years, I can say this Thinkdiag VCI coupled with my smartphone, is a delight to use! I really dig this tool. Thanks again Keith!

I’m also a ThinkCar1S and ThinkDiag Kickstarter Backer! But unlike you I have to wait till January to get mind. For the price and what it can do for a DIYer it’s a no brainer. I follow you and glad you like it. Keep the videos coming!

Keith, Thank you for the info/review. If you like it must be good! The only issue with these things is that 6 months from now there will be something new that has more functions for less money. God bless Paul (in MA)

Ever since watching Keith's video (thank you, Keith!) I have been reading the Kickstarter information. This product seems to be their top-line offering and I was going to take advantage of the Christmas special. However, I went into the Android app store and read the reviews of their other lower-cost offerings. Very concerning, to say the least. Most seem to have major issues but the main problem seems to be a lack of support from the company. If a customer paid for the software and their issues are ignored, that is a huge red flag. $200 may be very reasonable for what it offers but seeing no support is a definite 'no buy' for me.
@ChiefDLK2 жыл бұрын
I have this thing and use it all the time. It has become even more affordable. It is $120 and you get the complete software for one year for free if you buy the correct one on amazon. You can still use it without paying after the 1 year you just don't get updates. However, if you want the updates, everything is just $100 a year. I upgraded from a launch Bluetooth tool that was pretty good for the price also.

There seems to be a bit of buzz about this tool and based on the comments it appears justified. It's on my short list of tools to get.
I went to google play and couldn't find the app. I went to Thinkcar web site and they told me the app was still under construction. Curious how you got yours?

Seems very similar to the mini or Diagun. I'm understanding you can put launch software on your phone and it would prob be very similar as well. At that price point, I can't really see complaining, everyone carries a smartphone and can make it a bidirectional scan tool for code reader prices. Thanks for sharing.

I bought the Thinkdiag, and Thinkcar OBD11 reader with software a while back. I finally had a check engine light and neither of these could reset the fault code. Both are expensive and difficult to use. The $8 ebay unit solved the problem. Save your money.. Their customer service is zero also.

Hi Keith, I don't have Facebook so I am going to ask you a question, from what I can gather, the Thinkdiag dongle is quite cheap, still in crowdfunding stage though, and also paid on a subscription per manufacturer basis ie one manufacturer subscription is @ $40 US per year. Is this correct?
@NewLevelAuto4 жыл бұрын
That's what it looks like right now. Again I am on the fly with this . It is one of the many that i get offered to try , and it seemed like a good possibility for meeting some of my subscribers' budgets.

Deleted previous comment. Even though they are CLEAR about function, I think they're deliberately vague about "manufacturers" A ONE year subscription is REQUIRED for EACH VEHICLE MANUFACTURER. You normally get 2 single year subs with purchase OR during their promotion, ONE lifetime SINGLE manufacturer subscription. (This comes from THEIR information)
