I played this game back in 2001 for about 5 years straight. It was the best MMO I ever played. Back then MMO's were new and very exciting. The amount of friend I had in that game made it 10x more fun.

Haha I feel you. The early 2000 were definitely my peak of playing MMORPGs, all we need is a time machine and we can go back to it.

The real game takes sitting among the cleaning robots and fixing all the UI and writing macros for an hour before your first mission

This was my experience I was motivated enough because it was a sci fi mmo but ended up bored by the time I could finally play after setting everything up

@@EldarQueen40k it’s worth it if you persist. DL the new engine though and play at 1900ishx1080 it looks better. And you have more room for the UI naturally, if your like me though at that res I gotta get some readers to see chat

I played it last in 2020 during Covid, it’s still fun as ever. Population kinda took a hit, but 4 years ago it as still playable. I kinda want to crank it up again

They clunked together a rly weird tutorial region there haha Usually you would figure out stuff on the way and spawn in the backyards of big scifi cities (Which ofc u can pay a visit, great atmosphere there) And yeah. The profession has an immense impact on the play

The tutorial of Anarchy Online leaves much to desire. It's confusing for new players, and it really doesn't explain anything properly. Though you went through it really well.

It is confusing, but that also makes it fairly enjoyable. The modern MMORPG experience truly lacks any sense of discovery; your hand is held from beginning to end. Also, me going through it well is mostly the power of editing. I was definitely lost quite a bit 😂

@Nilvarcus that's why I still pop into AO to this day. It doesn't cater to no one. And it's still rewarding, even playing solo. The game has a complexity that no other MMO has at all (well maybe EQ) That is very satisfying. Sometimes I just get in game to hear the ambiance of certain areas, because it was THAT good.

​@@jamesdavis2359AO was my first mmo and it kinda ruined me as every other mmo seems far too simple in comparison. Who doesnt want to pull out there calculator and figure out how to put on a new set of armor or a weapon that god forbid you accidentally unequip 😮 lol

Oh man, I was super active on the forums a million years ago before AO was released. I even had characters planned out (Omni Tec Ninja, I think?). But I was a kid with no gaming computer so I never actually ended up playing it. Wonder if it's too late to get into now

Damn that's awesome, I really miss those old forums. They were so much fun back in the day. I don't think it's too late to start at all, especially because we have such a drought of new MMORPGs. I'm sure you will be able to squeeze some fun out of it.

You are also the only person I have seen use the actual crafting interface. Which isn't an issue but if you weren't sure you can use the items within your inventory and not use it too. Such as pick up item rightclick on secondary item to do the same process. But again, the game doesn't detail that very well either.
