I've never played the original FF7 but I know for a fact that this isn't a remake, this is a complete Re-Imagining of the game, which is not a bad thing. I'm downloading the PC port to PS4 and getting this version also. I have never played a single FF game and I think #7 is a great place to start.

Starting with FF7, 8, or 9, will be a great place to start. I started with 9 and wanted to play every other installment of the franchise once I beat it. Be prepared to spend many hours with them :)

I see people on here saying it's not turn-based cause it's 2015 derp derp blaaa.... Lots of games are still turn-based especially on PC. Xcom, Pillars of Eternity, Invisible Inc and most recently Mordheim are just a few examples. They are all awesome games. I'm not saying making it real time was necesarily a bad decision, but it's absolutely NOT TRUE that modern games can't be turn-based and still be fun. That's straight poo-brain mentality.

You know, if you look closely..the option of attack, magic, summon, item, and defend is on a little scroll bar on the left, and then there's a red bar that looks somewhat similar to the wait bar. Its not the limit break bar, that's the bar after MP. So although everyone keeps assuming its not turn based, it very much looks like it could be.

You must remember that Square are not just catering to just you and those who share the opinion that there should be no change to the combat system. They are catering to as wide an audience as possible , because , after all they are a company which needs to make money to stay running. Also Kingdom Hearts' battle system is more engaging for players and more applicable to modern platforms.But it also is one of the best aspects of those games because it takes elements of turn based combat , the menu system, and then applies real time action to it which provides a more enjoyable combat experience. Like others have said turn based combat is out dated and highly limited and by sticking strictly to the formula of the original would leave the game open to being criticised for not bringing some innovation to a near 20 year old game . I appreciate that you enjoy the original however this is a remake not a remaster and thus the game needs to be reworked to fit the modern audience. I am sure you can agree that this would be less anticipated if it was simply the original with modern graphics.

If u don't know Zack, Zack is the one who helped Cloud to survive in FF7 Crisis core where Cloud were targeted by those Soldiers (I forgot the story behind of it) But i knew cloud was once a Soldier like Zack. Until Zack Died Cloud get his BIG ASS SWORD and thats the sword that he using right now in trailer. Bruh I'm pretty sure Square Enix will think about more Character Customization for Cloud. However, I feel it doesn't translate well with the new "realistic" graphics. Pause the video at 0:53. Tell me he doesn't look like he belongs in a concentration camp. At first I did not want them to change the combat, but after thinking about it, I feel like it will extend the game play. I prefer this style when farming in MMO games which would be a lot more fun when grinding for Master Materia, also the Gold Saucer battle will be a lot more fun. I did not like the sunglasses on Barret, I also don't care for the voice they added on him but I plan on playing this with Japanese dialog anyways so it's not an issue for me.

The combat was traditional nothing special. i think the best thing in the game is the atmosphere. the game had such a good atmosphere you can go back and play with it anytime. the world was very calm and well designed. + the materia system is awesome (i liked the junction system more but its just me)

If you pay attention it shows that you can switch between Cloud and Barrett which likely means you'll be able to do so with all of the party members. That said, I'm actually really happy that they decided on the new fighting system!

We should probably reserve our opinions on the combat system until its explained fully. The combat to me looks closest to FF13s where u input the comand and the character goes off on a flurry.....which is actually closer to turn based. Will we be able to move characters around with the left analog during battle? Or will they just kinda creep around the battlefield automatically until its their turn to input another command again like in 13? Things like that arent clear in this video.

I honestly think its some kind of hybrid between turn based and action based. there is some kind of ATB bar under the name in the buttom left corner. I am a FFVII fanboy but open for changes. this trailer is friggin awesome. they captured the whole atmosphere from the intro mission so well. I really love what we've seen so far!

Me and a friend of mine have been waiting a LONG time for this. We used to bring up a "Final Fantasy 7 remake" as a joke kinda thing nearly every time we would meet up. And while everything else looks very nice. Why the...hell, is the nicest word i can put here, have they changed the ATB system... That is one of the things that people like me who played the original at release remember and loved. We are not happy at all that that has been changed.

TBH it still looks in the very early stages tho I'm curious how far they have gotten since its only been 6 months since we all saw the first trailer at E3. Why are people so pressed about it not being turn based? Ain't the story/characters what was loved most about the game? And that battle system shown here doesn't even look bad. I'm happy and hope they show Tifa soon!
