@@DingwallGuitars The straight wood color is cool. Some people would definitely like solid colors and stains though. I strongly reject the concept of tonewoods in electric guitars and basses so I think switching to a different wood that's less pricey for solid colors that will still keep the right weight should maybe be considered. Maybe a raw wood with minimal finishing would be nice since there's always people who want wear marks to prove their dedication. Maybe find some canada native trees that are suitable for a raw naturey take on the instruments or something of the sort. Building things with locally sourced wood always seemed cool to me. I'll leave the big suggestions to jagpanzer16 since nobody asked me about my opinion.

A great idea Sheldon. Black limba, ovangkol and super fatty together with the Neve preamp should produce a tight, fat, mid rich tone, and 3 pickups give all the classic combinations. It’s just a shame series/parallel toggles aren’t included as you get all the best tonal options. Definitely a win!

Amazing, the woods are gorgeous! Another option to consider in order to keep the price low and the concept of "low spec-ed / high quality" would be to go passive... no? I have seen a lot of passive ABZs on the web, and i assume the thinking behind it was exactly this...

I really love your take on a sunburst finish. I'm not a huge fan of regular F-style sunbursts, but this one looks more like what you'd see in high-end shoe market, if that makes sense, and I really like it!

My guess would be a price point between the Combustion/D rock and the custom shop basses. The appeal here wont be affordability, it will be getting your hands on a Canadian made Dingwall without waiting 2 years for the one you ordered to be completed.

It ticks all the boxes that I want or I'm curious about. #1 It's made in Canada. #2 SF2 pickups. #3 Neve preamp. #3 No need to think up a wild finish. If the neck is close to a Z profile, it will be very hard to resist.
