The issue with Merman is Walmart using the same SKU for the Deluxe figures. It doesn't matter the character. So if Krang is still in stock or didn't sell, replenishment is denied. This is why wave 2 of the Transformers Velocitron never made it to stores. There is a chance we might see em at Ross some day

I think the removable shells (on the Turtles themselves) is just a "side effect" of the removable/mix and match aspect of the origins line, since in the actual mini comics they don't remove their shells to use as shields.

I’m right there with ya on the Rattlor figure. I’m all about the mutants as well. I’m actually glad he has translucent plastic on him because I was worried they were gonna cheap out and not use it. I also wish the merman was easier to get. It’s an excellent figure. The mutants are just amazing stand alone action figures for me. So creative and absolutely wild.

Well, according to another “ToyTuber,” he said Mattel specifically told him at SDCC that ToG was ending in 2025 to make room for ThunderCats. Personally, it doesn’t really make sense to me that Mattel would update the packaging and start a whole new storyline just for it to end within the next 2 waves, but who knows? So far, I’ve only been able to pick up all of the Target exclusives, so I only have those four figures (plus the completed build-a-figure), but I want to be all in on this line. My son absolutely loves all of these characters and the interchangeable features, so it’s really cool to see him exploring these two worlds and making the characters do weird things. He does seem to be enjoying TMNT more than MotU, which is fine. I think it’s because most of them are mutated animals. Kind of surprised you’re a bit lukewarm to Casey Jones and Teela, I think their designs are pretty cool. As for Mer-Man, I may have been one of the few people that was a bit indifferent to his design. The disproportionate head really threw me off on his design, but you’re actually the first person I’ve seen that pointed out his head is modeled after an angler fish, so now the bigger head makes more sense to me. Hordak is damn awesome! As for Wave 5, now that I see them in hand, I think I like this new “Snake Hunter” Raph and Donnie better than the first ones. Very glad to see that Donnie’s head garb can indeed be removed to give him the more traditional look. That was sort of a big slip-up Mattel made on the first one. Rattlor does look pretty rad, I have to say! Love that he still rattles, but I’m still disappointed that the neck requires extensions in order to pull off the “action feature.” I know it’ll be the same thing with Mekaneck, and that really bugs me. Almost every single Origins figure that has had their heads pulled off and put back on by either my son or myself now has an extremely loose ball joint resulting in bobble-head syndrome, which is kind of irritating. Plus, it’s often a bit of a struggle for me to pull the figures apart and put them back together again. I shouldn’t have to hurt my arm and shoulders just to have a little fun with my boy while he’s playing with them. 🤷🏻‍♂️ All in all though, gripes aside, I really love this line. I was hoping we’d see more mashups, like Buzz-Off and Baxter, or other classic characters such as Evil-Lyn and Tri-Klops. I mean, there’s such a huge roster of characters from both franchises. It would be such a waste to have the line end next year before they really had a chance to go deeper into the lineup. ~Damon

100% disagree about Casey. I love the mask and he's a highlight for me. I do agree about Teela and the removable turtle shell shields (its like theyre peeling their own shell off. Its like body horror). She's just teela with kind of turtle themed kit. Should have merged Teela with Irma, lol. I'd love to see that crossover I'm in the pro wig camp. It's totally something Mikey would do

Am I the only one who has issues with how fragile and smelly April's wings are? They feel like cardboard I could crush in my hand just by squeezing! 😬 Now I have just taken her head and put it on the turtle-armor Teela body. A real let down, because I like characters with the "hawkman" wings trope. I just keep them in my box for all the other loose parts, they are so fragile I am a bit terrified every time I try putting them back on. Also did I simply get a bad pair, because the paint apps on mine seem a bit blurrier to me? Either way you'll still want the Teela figure because she has Raphael's other giant sai, much like how turtle-armor Man-at-arms has the other half of Donatello's mace/club/staff.

The toys in the 80s were so popular that they just keep on milking that cow. It also highlights that they're creatively broke. But that's the norm, there are no new IPs in the movie, games, comics, tv shows, and books that are anywhere near as popular.

There is just something "off" about the April figure. I think it's the yellow legs, bare legs would give her even more of a sorceress vibe. And I agree with you on the silver accents on Teela, Mattel really should've painted the rest of the details on the body.

MOTU: Origins and Turtles of Grayskull have been drying up at retail here. I've only seen Man-At-Arms (Cartoon Collection) for the longest time at Target. Walmarts in my area have completely abandoned MOTU in favor of wrestling figures.

That Casey head sculpt felt very 2000s turtles. I do think it’s odd to have variants in the line so soon. I keep meaning to pick up a wind raider to customise tnmt style!

Long video is fine for me, just discovered this line recently.😁 Shame about the Casey mask but given the modular nature maybe later they'll do a better mask like they've done with the head sculpt complaint revisions. Also do kind of wish there was a bat in there, if they don't have an Eternian bat, then a wasted opportunity to not make one.😉 I like TMNT Teela, the turtle armor is a good design in my eyes. Lol they'd be some pretty bad designers if they screwed up Skeletor, knocked that one out of the park. I like the wig on Mikey, totally get what they were going for Ie. homage. Solid Leo design. Stealth He-Man is okay but pretty hard to top that awesome mutant version. Must saw the April looks much better once you get it out of the packaging and pose the wings and get the hammer in her hands. Liking the Hordak but that face paint, I could do better than that. That is the buffest Splinter I've ever seen heh. Wow that Merman turned out great, a sweet example of molded plastic colors, I don't usually like transparency. You can't wrong with snake or skull motifs, the snake men ones turned out really nice especially Rattlor. Hey it's a transformation, the muscles grew so big the shell had to recede to accommodate them lol, I like the shell still being part of their anatomy though like tough leathery skin plates.

I just recently got the 2 head bebop & rocksteady from target online. I’ve only been cherry picking this line. I really want a mer man, leatherhead, & rattlor. And ninjor when he hits. I passed on hordak & Casey although I thought they looked good. Just buying way too much and limited space so gotta really be picky

I'd have gotten Teela if the helmet was removable as original preview images showed. Casey needed to include an extra holding left hand. And why translucent weapons? Mer-Man going Merdude is cool, but, yeah, why is it rare? Reptile Wars is a fun use of parts, but the first two waves are hero heavy, makes me wonder if they are going past wave 2 with the theme and not switching to Thundercats for spring/summer. If they do, hopefully more snake-men and evil warriors and not so much say, something like a Casey Jones in snake armor and another Skeletor (you just know they want to reuse snake armor Skeletor's head again) I may be in the minority here, but Rattlor would be far cooler with bone colored head and neck and non-translucent parts. I feel that way about almost everything translucent.

I find it ironic. Casey Jones is one the highly praised figures from this line in all the earliest reviews I have seen. Not sure how one can say he's not recognizable as Casey. Sure reads that way to me and I actually got both Casey and April because MOTU scales great with the 2012 Turtle Brothers. The Turtles themselves are the least interesting part of this line. All into Shredder (Best Shredder going) and Hordak has become my default Hordak.

I think some people voted for the Lair, since they thought Mattel would make the Fight Zone anyway. But there's no guarantee that any of the vintage vehicles and playsets will get remade since they don't sell well.
