As a Swede i visited the USA in 1990. I turned 7 while i was there and my parents took me to a toy store and told me i could pick a present i wanted. I had never heard about or seen the TMNT. There were lots of toys and my parents were not impressed when i told them i wanted Donatello and Bebop. They showed me other bigger toys but my mind was set on those two figures. I played with them a lot. A few months later the TMNT were arriving in Sweden toystores. My friends and I saw the first cartoons on rented video. I was absolutely in awe. From 7 to 11 every Christmas and birthday i got TMNT toys. I somehow managed to get my dad to get the real TMNT film om a VHS tape. I watched it so many times. Still to this day it is my favorite movie of all time. My old toys i have given to my children and they have played with them. I have gotten a nes with the TMNT 2 the arcade game and TMNT 1 (and nr 3). And ive showed them the 1990 film. The turtles will always be my favorite toys, film and cartoon.

I love that your dad thought to record even mundane moments like you playing outside with your cousins, or something as simple as backing out of your driveway. It's almost like he planned to give you a library of B-roll footage knowing you'd go on to make documentaries of your life. Making these videos is the best way ever to pay back the favor. Videos like these inspire me to be an advocate for children and a champion of their joy. My parents didn't really like Spongebob, but they know it made me and my brothers happy through the 2000s, and I'm grateful they allowed us to indulge in this big chunk of our childhoods. There are things today that kids are obsessed with that would make us cringe. But we have to swallow our pride and just go with it, because it's their time to be happy, and eventually they will thank us for capturing and supporting these precious moments of their youth.

Turtlemania was indeed BIG! Everything about it was perfect for a kid growing up with older brothers. The toys were priced modestly at $3.96 each. So I could actually save up money to buy at least one at Wal-Mart or even two from Kay Bee Toys discount bin. I even remember gifting one at a birthday party I was invited to. The live-action movie just made them alive to me. I knew they were in costumes in the back of my mind, but that was the most believable versions of them in "reality". Those were some fun times!

I'm an 80s baby and I was totally into TMNT back in the day. My favorite NES beat 'em up is still TMNT III: The Manhattan Project.

Turtles were a global phenomenon I'm a Milennial from Argentina and it was all about the Turtles, Terminator, Ghostbusters, Rambo, Robocop and GI Joe and Silverhawks in the early 90s for kids. Right before the anime boom started in the mid 90s with Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball. The fact that Turtles games were among the best NES and Arcade games available sure helped a lot.

I was born 82, I’m 42 now, TMHT (as they were called in the uk) was such a big part of my childhood, loved your vid, you got to do what most kids dreamed of doing, I still have all my turtle stuff till this day, including the 4 turtle figures from 88 in packaging and yes they all have rubber heads, only yesterday I got my turtle cartoon and movie cards out to look at them, my wife is so lucky lol thank you for posting this video P.S my mum told me the day she brought me turtle figures for Christmas back in 1988, “I’ll bet you will grow out of this whole turtle fad soon” well it’s 2024 and she’s still waiting!

I was definitely swept in Turtlemania. Transformers stopped with new episodes in 1987 and TMNT quickly took its place. Along with an NES, the games, the toys, the cartoon when it aired all of it. I even saw The Coming Out of Their Shells Tour at both Radio City Music Hall and at Six Flags Great Adventure. I took karate to defend myself against bullies and TMNT, along with Karate Kid, were inspirational for that.

One of the things that I love about this channel, is that it 1000% represents the kind of impact I hope to have on my son. The kind of love and memories that last forever. My sons only a year but loves ninja turtles (fav scene is in the second movie “NEXT TIME ILL USE MUSTARD!!!” I love the my boy, and I believe your dad would as proud of you as I think I already am of my son. You got a fan for life.

TMNT was my favorite of all time. I had clothing, video games, lunch boxes, toys and everything else you can think of that had TMNT. I went to the movies, public appearances and even had all 4 came to a few of my birthday parties. I had almost every toy line up to 2010 of TMNT, but as I grew older I had more responsibilities and it was time for me to let go of the past and move on. So, I sold off my TMNT collection.

I still have about 70% of my original TMNT toy collection. The rest were lost to garage sales. May they RIP!

I was born in 1979. Turtles were pretty big in my house. We had GI Joe's and Turtle battles in our bedroom.

I can't describe the nostalgia that I feel now. From 1989 to 1992 was the period when the Ninja Turtles were the biggest part of my childhood. My bedsheets; pillow covers; Trapper Keepers, my room itself was a shrine to the turtles. I had all the Nintendo games as well. And the movies were so amazing. I remember the song "T-U-R-T-L-E Power" during the ending credits of the first movie and Vanilla Ice singing, " Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go !" in the second one !!
