Yeah its gonna be a massive hit with 17 year olds as their first car... okay lets go online, I can get a vw golf, 2018, 40k miles, r-line for 16k.. a massive 6k to spare. I can get a 2024 vw golf 1.0 etsi 3k miles, 22grand, and I wont have to ask the parents can I use the charger and driveway and they can park on the road... youd be better off with a polo though, 1l polo, get about 2022, about 9k miles for about 16grand... I could get a really really good bmw 1 series that would be bullet proof for 22k... I dont know where you people are coming from that 22k is a cheap car, I have rarely spent more than 10k, are you willing to buy this thing for 22k just so it can depreciate like crazy and sell it to me in 2-3 years for 9/10k? I just fell in love with the inster, and it's not limmerence. Never mind the demographic audience for this vehicle, hyundai just ticked almost all the boxes of my wishlist what I need an compact EV to be to have value. I think this EV has appeal for all dempraphocs. Hyundai just blew the competition away in my view with other brands in this segment based on specs and features, as standard, interior en exterior, alone. If the 49 kwh can achieve all weather all season range of 186 miles between 20 and 80% soc I'm sold! Hoping the 49 kwh version will be well below 25000 euros incl taxes. If so it is true value for money than the competition. The eC3 basically only has the comfort suspension going for it, the fiat 500e has only the iconic design going for it for a hefty comparative price, the compact byd maybe has more style a slightly more interior stle but far less fully specced than the inster, the id2all may be a close competitor but will likely have a heftiger pricetag and slightlynless features, maybe only competing on slightly better performance specs, the honda ev has better front interior design for a hefty price butbwoth much less range and size, the Dacia is too basic for the price and performance and looks relatively expensive for the price, renault 5 looks lackluster in terms of total package compared to the Inster EV, but you're paying mainly for design and modern nostalgia (which will likely be more niche now in my view

They nearly all get second hand ford c-max or s-max because they like to bring the neighbours kids if they can... It amazes me that so many motoring journos fail to realise that "City Cars" can be just as useful as any other car, especially when so much of the internal volume is not taken up with engine and transmission. Don't get me wrong, I love large and high performance vehicles but the reality is that we rarely use the performance or the space. So wtf do we need electric cars to follow the form factors of ICE cars? If you can get 6'6" and a 6'2" people one behind the other, why do we need a car to be any bigger? I regularly spend long hours on motorways and, with the exception of the holidays, I rarely see more than 20% of cars with more than two people in them, yet everybody seems to think that they need to "Impress" the population with some sort of floating gin palace on wheels! And the reality is that it is perfectly possible to use a "City Car" for all a family's needs. I know, we had a Hyundai Atoz as our only family car for about 3 years. It already had over 250k on the clock when we got it and did another 350k before it finally died. And a lot of that mileage was on m/ways. At least with an equivalent EV we wouldn't have the engine singing along with every mile (we actually called it The Singer because the engine sounded more like a sewing machine than a car). With adaptive cruise control and all the other typical gear of modern cars, I really don't see the need for anything more. Do I want one? Yes (and this is the first one of these ultra cheap, FWD EVs that has tempted me) but I don't know whether I can live without the flexibility that a van offers, but that is another story, and one that is completely irrelevant to 90+% of people.. Maybe we can get one of these and a cheap van for when those specific needs arise.

I love your comment...only one reason for a much bigger ioniq 5.... I like the compact look of the Casper (Inster). It would be the perfect daily driver for work or basic weekend errands. I hope it comes to the US.

Lovely car. Can you tell me the battery chemistry?

Was this presentation showing initially a 3door variant and ending with a 5door? Lots of useful detail left out but just about OK for a general look.

It’s got Suzuki ignis vibes. I would multiply the battery size by 4 and that’ll be the range if you’re lucky for most of the year Will it be suitable for the motability scheme? Would be perfect for that

Yep, we like the style a lot. It has some pros over the Citroën ë-C3 line. Mostly the flat cargo floor, the choice for 2 sizes of batteries that also come with a heatpump, the option for a open/glas roof and 1 pedal driving. The rest is design preferences. The pros for the ë-C3 seem to be the better comfort, the better suspension, more interior space and the fact that it is build in the EU could be an argument. Claimed range for the ë-C3 is 199 miles or 326km for the standard version of the 44kWh ë-C3, NOT the 165 miles that you claim. The standard version of the Hyundai Inter is 185 miles (300km) and for the 49kWh it is 217 miles according to the website of Hyundai itself. AND, the Citroën ëC3 is for sale, and the Inster is due for mid to late 2025? and the exact prices have yet to be revealed in the EU.

seems like a decent replacement for the hyundai i10/kia picanto as a city car, Funky styling with added height for easier access. if it comes with all that tech as the entry level then the price is about right, Although if they can get the entry level sub 20k then yeah

You've forgotten to mention the reclining back seats.

Spare tyre? Or even room for one? On this or any other new car?

Noup… spare tires are so last decade! Maybe Range Roger still has one?

It's less of a big deal for people who mainly drive in the city. I'm not saying it wouldn't be better with one but punctures are fairly rare, we've had 1 in the last 10 years of driving. Probably done about 60000 miles.

The petrol Kia Ceed SW (estate) starts at £23k new ... I have a 2016 model, it has been a brilliant load lugger, as I only do about 3,000 miles a year I'm afraid switching to an EV of this size won't save enough to pay for hiring a larger car for camping holidays, trips to the tip etc. As a lifestyle second car it will probably hit the spot.

Classic looking instruments, physical buttons and knobs, real door handles, a super flexible interior and enough room inside while being a small and cheap car Now tell me it can tow a trailer as well and you have a car that will sell like crazy

Hopefully less expensive for insurance. Hopefully! As that another barrier that has been created. Seems this one has extras on it so could give a false impression regarding cost . More affordable the better 👍🏼

The battery options seem quite close , I suspect most people will go for the bigger option.
