Will the mercury be able to fly over the shallow waters like yamaha my uncles mercury 75 2 stroke would only make it about 100 feet and turn off because it had a water sensor i believe

As a lifelong Johnson/Evinrude guy, I have to say I like these, if I was ever gonna go 4 stroke. Seems all outboards today, are beaten with an ugly stick though.

like them old early 80's V-6 150/175/200hp. less than 300 lbs. sound like a race engine. This new stuff all looks and sounds like shit. wouldn't have the over priced over weight plastic, electric covered crap they all are selling. Was a Merc.dealer still working on them since 83.

Tim Vaughn 80’s V6 Mercs weighed more than 300 pounds. The in line 150 with P/T weighed about 300.

10 years ago all outboards had a rounded hood and cowlings. Just a style aspect which changes with time.

I’m a mercury guy currently, but this new motor looks like shit. The Evinrude g2 looks a hell of a lot better than this new metal triangle with a prop attached to it. At least make the decals bigger to cover up all that empty space or something.

RJF Transport My XR6 still looks new and runs like a top. I don’t need a new motor right now. This new one just looks too funky. Maybe by the time I need a new motor they will have changed the design again by then . Definitely needs bigger graphics on the side. Put something under Mercury to fill out the empty space.

I would rather run an Evinrude , Old school OMC or BRP 2 stroke outboard or a New E-TEC over This New Mercury. I would even consider running a Mercury Pro XS 2 stroke over this New Mercury. This New Mercury 4 stroke looks similar to the Evinrude E-TEC. Imo , 2 is better than 4 Any day!!!

Dyno Don : You're right. They , Evinrude Didn't go bankrupt for making Great outboard motors. They the Company went bankrupt due to poor management. If the people would have managed the company better then OMC would more than likely would still be in business. I think that BRP is doing a great job with Evinrude.
