I'm glad I watched this. I was about to pay WAY too much for this set in the U.S., because there's very little choice over here. It's a real struggle just getting your foot in the door when international shipping costs more than the products themselves, and when all that's available is either expensive and poor quality, or SUPER expensive and used.

Just bought this set for my nephews 8th birthday. He's never played subbuteo before and can't wait to see his reaction to the game and have a tournament with the family. I'm going to destroy them all! I'm starting to think I bought it for me really.......

Good, honest review - I like it. If I ever hear an Italian commentator saying "OOOOOHHHH, LAZIO!" again I will immediately think of you at 00:00 :-) For anyone who doesn't know Lazio are a "Serie A" Italian football team (from Rome). Mind you, I don't know much about Italian football. One day, if the channel flourishes, you could possibly get a commentator to record "OOOOOHHHH SUBBUTEO!". Someone from Southern Europe or South America would be best I think. Just a thought :-) PS: Happy Birthday for early July some time

Great vid mate. Once again a great honest review. Personally I like the set,we have a half decent pitch and insert for the players and I don’t mind the rules sheet (even though it’s just an A4 sheet). Very much aimed at the new players and if it gets more people into subbuteo and youbbuteo then superb 👍

Better presentation, could have included a proper international second team. Goals OK and rules, ho hum. Pitch looks nice, decent quality? Looks like it doesn’t hold a crease, hope they do a 127cm version as an accessory.

Whats the best quality subbuteo set to buy? I see alot of dissapointed reviews on sets saying the pitches are flimsy and the goals are cheap and poor quality

Thats very difficult question to answer. People hate the new sets for being cheap, but also because it fashionable too. The original sets are best, if purchased in good condition. Are you looking to play casual competiive or relive your youth?

Sorry for being slow in the reply. When did you grown up if you a 70’s or a 80’s baby any 80’s set will work. If you 60’s kid, then 70’s set. I was born early 80’s so live the branded 90’s sets

I’d live to see stadium sections but I remember someone saying a couple of years the cost to produce is too high. Saying that tho, it something that could be well handled by some like Hornby

The wife and I ('50's) have been into modern designer board gaming for the last ten years, having played literally hundreds. Subbuteo can easily be described as a dexterity board game so the appeal is potentially huge... BUT looking at this Subbuteo product, well, it's extremely poor quality; the nets are abysmal, the flimsy and cheap plastic inlay is exactly that, and that the rules come on a single piece of black and white paper with tiny text (of the approx 300+ games we've played over the last ten years not a single one had instructions printed in b&w) just says this is a cheap product and the manufacturer can't be arsed. Quality sells. Perhaps someone needs to tell the new owners of Subbuteo. I had Subbuteo as a kid in the late '70's and early '80's I'd love to get back into it, but the quality needs to be there. Come on Subbuteo - make the beautiful game Subbutifull.

Wish I d seen this video before buying this set. The goals don’t fit together it is flimsy as anything. The box was broken. Returning to Amazon. We have one disappointed 8 year old on Christmas Day. The quality of this is nothing like my sets I had in the 70’s and 80’s. Sadly my Dad gave it away to a charity shop when I was living abroad. Do you have any recommendation for buying better goals and just teams separately? Luckily bought the new foam backed mat which is of a good quality just need some goals and teams for my son’s Xmas present.

YEah I don't see why not, loads of people will say it's crap compared the old stuff, which in fairness it's not a patch on, but the pitch is ok, and I think alright. At the end of the day goals are goals, it a base to start buying new teams. I brought the 2012 as starter when I got back into collecting and building a stadium, and it isn't much different to that.

Really naff compared to the old stuff of the 70s and 80s heyday. Terrible figures. God knows why, when there are so many out there who like the game - be they youngsters just coming to it or else us oldies who remember the early stuff, a company can't produce something worth having which is up to the old mark. The goals in particular are really hopeless. Of course you can still get the old stuff on eBay but frankly the prices are ridiculous. And of course you can some very nice goals from Italy - if you want to pay c £30.....A real shame

Rebooted subbuteo is shit. The pitch doesn't iron, as it's made of some awful plastic, the players are flimsy as hell and don't fit properly. I have a France 98 set and the quality is infinitely better with a cloth pitch and better made players.

The only item I think that holds up is the pitch in the versions, and I mean the 2020 version the 2018 set are pants for a pitch. but the 2020 sets the pitch is very underrated

@@SubbuteoCollector the pitch in my son's new version is the smaller version and the creases won't bloody come out. My France 98 set came with a fabric pitch resembling a snooker table fabric. It's a bit old and bobbly now but still better. I just watched your video about the problems you faced getting a France 98 set. Mine has been at my parents house untouched for 20 years. I have just recently taken it back and plan to use it soon.
