FIRST LOOK - Two 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28s - BARRETT-JACKSON 2022 PALM BEACH AUCTION

Which 1969 ‪@Chevrolet‬ Camaro Z/28 would you rather have?
First, we dive into a red and black Z/28 RS Camaro. Per its VIN and date codes, this classic was built the first week of February 1969 at the Van Nuys, California, assembly plant. The car was ordered with a solid-lifter 302ci V8 engine paired to a 4-speed M21 Muncie manual transmission. This original example includes the correct spring-ring battery cables and the correct clamps and hoses. As a bonus, it’s smog compliant and comes with all the emissions equipment still in place.
Next, we look at the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 finished in Hugger Orange. It has been restored to its original factory specifications. It features regular production options like the Endura (sport) front bumper, Rally Sport hidden headlights, and a fully functional cowl-induction hood. Under the hood, this Camaro was optioned with a DZ 302ci V8 engine, professionally built, paired to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission that sends power to the ground with a 12-bolt rear end equipped with posi-traction and 3.73 factory gears.

Joseph, the red one is my old car. I bought it out of a collection in Canada about 20 years ago. I sold it to a guy in Canada 4 years ago, who them sold it to another guy in Canada who then put it in Barrett Jackson. The color on the trim tag is for Garner Red, but when MacNeish inspected the car at my house, he remarked it looked "more like a Porsche red". I sold it because i found my "perfect Z", a '69 Daytona Yellow rally sport car with black and white houndstooth interior that had a 3 year body-off frame restoration in California.

It still looks strange and out-of-place to me ---- I can remember these cars when they were new ---- If you had shown up someplace, back then, with an RS (hidden-headlights) Camaro that someone stuck Z-28 emblems on, you would have been LAUGHED at! Everybody and his brother would have known that YOU did it yourself and that it was not authentic. A Z-28 was a specific (road course) package that DID NOT have hidden headlights from the factory because that would have made NO sense for a road course competition car! (But the population has changed and almost no one else remembers that, now.)
