Ultimate Coaster X is a new (free!) roller coaster simulator that doesn't quite measure up to the depth of games like NoLimits 2 or Planet Coaster, but for a game made by one person as a Java excercise, it's very impressive, and it has one of the most well-developed coaster builders I've ever seen. This video serves as a introduction/review/timelapse build to the game.
If you're interested, you can pick it up here:
store.steampow...
The framerate drops on the POV are not the game's fault, that's me not knowing how to properly record things. The game has been running smooth so far.

Awesome job! Out of curiousity, have you used a framework or have you build this from scratch? Because doing this in Java is amazing. Nice sound quality as well, sounds as if you are on a real coaster. Also, some small idea, I loved the ability to be able to controll my coaster in No Limits. Food for thought? :)

the reason why the supports get more dense towards the bottom of a drop or on tight turns is because of the forces of the train pushing on the track. because the G-forces are greater in those situations the force exerted on the track by the train is greater.

This impressive for a free coaster simulation game, it features more than what Planet Coaster offers i wish Frontier Dev. would look at this game as a reference to improve for PlanCo2 I spent more hours building coasters than i did in PlanCo, that tells you PlanCo2 needs improvement, Yes I do still love PlanCo but this game offers a bunch but i prefer No Limits 2 over this, even tho if you cant afford No Limits, Ultimate Coaster X is the way to go building realistic coasters, I honestly think Frontier Dev was aiming towards thrillville style, but again i think Frontier Dev should take PlanCo2 to the next level and make it realistic as No Limits and Ultimate Coaster X into one game but keep the same concept as the 1st PlanCo game but have more DLC's like adding water parks, imagine PlanCo2 looks better than No Limits 2 with better options and features Ok Imma shut up now so you can continuing scrolling to the next comment

@TheFunfighter
@TheFunfighter 5 жыл бұрын
I guess valleys would require a lot of support because those are where the coaster has a lot of kinetic energy (speed), and all g-forces that a guest experiences in for example a tight corner have to be countered by an adequate reinforcement. Depends on the coaster though I think. If a coaster somehow creates extreme forces in a high place, it's even worse because the lever is so long. Or the supports there just have to be thicker and with fitting angles.
@KingRCT3
@KingRCT3 5 жыл бұрын
Speed doesn't matter, only g-forces do. A high section should also need a bunch of supports for stability, but what usually happen is that engineers create an arc so the track kinda support itself. And it is usually sections of track with little to no g-forces (0g) - although I assume they are designed to be able to hold the train weight in case of a stall.
@TheFunfighter
@TheFunfighter 5 жыл бұрын
@@KingRCT3 I knew someone would note that speed alone doesn't do much, which is why I specifically mentioned g-forces resulting from high speed cornering. I guess I didn't build the bridge clearly enough.

I think so far there's a niche for all these roller coaster simulation games, and they don't necessarily compete with each other. Planet Coaster is great for making theme parks, Parkitect is more gameplay-focused and like the original RCT's, and this game is only good for quickly making decent layouts and riding them - though it excels at that! If this game's target audience overlaps with anything, it's probably NoLimits.

@coconutmilkism

Block brakes create sections on a coaster, if the next section has a train on it then your second train will have to stop until the next section is clear. So if your layout is long, a mid course block brake and maybe a couple block sections at the end before the station can help.

Jesno's I understood that much but for some reason it still never works. All trains always stop on every single one. It’s especially annoying with the mouse coasters or something. Hold up, maybe the next video might also be the long-awaited Parkitect coaster tutorial. I'll see whichever I finish first. Anyway, I'm ready to start recording the new Jägerhorn video. I haven't done anything with the transfer track! Not sure if I will, I built it all wrong but I doubt there's space to actually fix it.

Just wondering.... Would it be crazy to rebuild a new set of transfer tracks, instead of rebuilding the whole building around them? Like, you did your tricks to build those transfer tracks to begin with. I certainly have no idea how hard it could be to build them again, because i ignore if the colission tool would mess up, or there is no space between the transfer tracks and the station. I don't know, but still is a minor thing to worry about. The whole project really deserves a whole lot of atention. Simply astonishing. Amazing. Wonderful. Je t'adore.

I think that's still worth it, NL2 is made by a team of developers over a time span of 8 years I believe - it's much more in-depth.

@@rubrixie7340 yeah i know, but i´m very used to nolimits2 by now, will still take a look at it but will probably stay with nolimits since it just isn´t hard anymore to build something in NL, at least for me, so the point of ultimate coaster being easier to use just isn´t a selling point for me :D
