First Mahi Mahi (Dolphin fish) - Kayak Fishing Sunshine Coast

MAHI MAHI!! from my kayak...was not expecting that.... A bucket list fish for any angler the Mahi Mahi (Dolphin fish) is a prize table fish and I did not expect to catch one from my kayak in such close proximity to land.
Location: Sunshine Reef, Noosa Australia
A fairly quiet trip turned into a very exciting one for us at Sunshine reef, a spot that holds a wide variety of species, although they have been known to be here they are usually far from paddle range. the runs and jumps from this one were very exciting - hope you enjoy.

So sick Mahi Mahi for days! What rod and reel setup are you running there mate? I have a 5000 Penn spin that I want to match with a rod have been looking at the ugly stick Bluewater 7” med/heavy. Any advice? Keep the vids coming.

Thanks mate - oh that taste so good it was gone very quick between family and friends - I am using the Azores 6500 with 7’ pressure point rod - have used ugly sticks for a while but these Okuma rods are the business - I put a link in description of the vid (the the Australian distributor) check it out - great rods and felt every bit of the fight which helped keep me connected as that fish was jumping all over the place trying to lose me
