Today is a huge achievement with the first major part going back on the free abandoned airplane! We started with the vertical stabilizer we got in Brussels, but unfortunately after several hours of working on it we discovered corrosion that would require a huge effort to fix. After discovering that we decided to switch directions and work on the original horizontal stabilizer off of the 401. After stripping cleaning prepping and priming we finally got the first big part finished and back on the 401 Phoenix where it belongs!

Is it allowed by the FAA to disable the aircraft's de-icing system? won't you have certification problems after this change? I think that with the removal of the bag from the leading edge of the rear horizontal stabilizer, the de-icing system becomes inoperative

Congrats on the first piece back on. But why? Harder to transport and now you have that rubber trip to deal with when painting. Sorry. Love watching and you all are doing great work, but that is a hard no on mounting that wing until the wing and the body are painted and polished.

BTW, it appears 'pinch welt' was installed on the inboard end of the stabilizer which is the incorrect part. The gap between stab and fuselage has to be completely sealed up.

That’s primer, it goes under the paint. The reason it’s green is it helps with corrosion. A lot of airplanes use the green primer. He wants to paint it the colors of rebuild rescue, not military. He does do a lot of promotions to pay for this huge project. And he supports other channels that are coming in and helping. I don’t understand why your being so rude without doing any research. Dude needs to figure out how to pace a video faster than a snail. Honestly this video should’ve been 15 minutes top. I’m excited to see this plane get back in the air, but after three to four episodes that only four used on the plane not getting painted and a few episodes on getting the plane’s engines to run and a half hour episode to have it be placing a part on. Not evening bolting it down and running wire cables to the stabilizer. This is starting to drag on and become uninteresting to watch.

@@andywoolford3996 OOF I didn’t even know that. I’m hoping more people start actually calling the slowness out, and the dragging on of episodes. The “incredible” level of detail is just an expected level when dealing with aircraft.

I don't understand how you can use the old parts, without being able to completely clean them inside and out. If they had birds inside, crapping and things, seems like that would be an issue.
