I have a 402b (same part number) vertical stabilizer you can have for free if you ship it from South Africa. It does need a bit of sheetmetal work, almost exactly like yours. But its bird poop and nest free….someone did not lock the stabilizer after flight and a storm flipped it around causing the damage. I also have a 401 i am stripping for spares if you need other stuff at a good price for you guys.

I'm on the back end of restomoding a 1977 truck. You got to keep digging until you stop finding ugly. You guys are exactly right in doing this. Take her down to her bones. The last thing you want to do is put a bunch of gremlins back into a project. It will always come back to bit you! When you guys are done that 401 will last you your life time! As far as the glass I'd personally go for new glass for the front windshields. That is a bit of money but well worth it as you will be looking out them the most.

Great video! I just love watching the progress on the 401, and can't wait to see it fly. Concerning those windows, a great product for polishing plastic is Novus 1-2-3 plastic polish. #3 is a coarser polish, followed by #2 - a fine polish that shines like glass, and #1, which is essentially a cleaner to remove any residue. I use it to polish vintage turntable dust covers all the time, and it leaves a perfect finish. Keep up the good work and pay Joe more money. Whatever he is getting paid, it isn't enough. 😁

For a Piper Warrior, between my T-hangar, annual inspection cost and insurance, I spent about $500 per month in fixed costs, i.e. the cost to simply own the airplane. A lot of people make the mistake of buying as much plane as they can afford without thinking all of the costs through.
@shadmtmtn1603
@shadmtmtn1603 Жыл бұрын
Not agreeing with the 3 first comments... it is foolish to own a plane and not use it, by definition, a plane should fly. Yes, costs and everything, as for any user of anything ! Your planes are costly because you think they are flying cars, but even used once a month, the parking lot needs its fees. Tell me, you complaining, 9000hrs in a year, how much of that does your plane fly ? 5 ? 10 ? You pay a very low cost for your useless toys. Rent it to cover static costs, and forget whinning your misery, when Mr Lambda can't even afford a 1h "air baptem" once a life !

As far as aircraft parts go, the prices for the windows are bargain-basement. I would be buying the two widscreens and front side windows at least. I was watching all the videos for a while but this is no longer a rebuild rescue. With all the time either donated or not , all the donations , all the new parts and all the old parts refurbished, the old plane is not even there anymore. There are no memories, the History of the plane is gone. Probably could’ve bought a new one for the price that is going into this one.

It never ceases to amaze me how birds can literally get into every nook and cranny of an abandoned airplane! And you are STILL finding this. WOW!

The FAA grounded that plane. What are You trying to do here? There is a lag of professesionality. Its not about corrosion. Are You guys avionic engineers? Don't waste your money on this channel. I promise you, this plane will never fly again. It would be way cheaper to get three new ones at this piont. Rebuild Rescue is missleading. Those guys are just professional cleaners. Thats it. Everthing us looking nice, but makes no sence in the end. Dismissed!

Why did the FAA ground the plane? Because it had an ugly paint job??

@@buckmurdock2500 Stopp wasting my time. Call me back in ten years. And explain to me why this plane is still grounded. Don't trust his balls, because they're nuts!

New to the channel but I have been blown away!!! My grandmother had a flight school at KCI for a number of years and this has brought so many fond memories I can’t even explain!!! Thanks so much for what y’all are doing! It means the world to veterans all over. It is very touching that you go to the level of detail that you do!

Another great video. You did all the hard stuff on the windows but I would send them out to a professional detail shop that specializes in window and glass restoration. They have the proper equipment and more importantly the expertise to make them look brand new. A final ceramic coating on them would go a long way.

Awesome video!! Just remember to get some new UV protection on those windows, or at least research the topic. I know when you're buffing car headlights you need to put some on or else they get hazy again.
