Funny thing.. As a combat engineer using c4 and tnt throughout my time in service, we had a book that we used as a point of reference for the steel that you need to cut through or the amount of material that you need to destroy with a specific amount of explosives and I always said, "too much is always enough".

The transition back to civilian life having missed all those years of building a career/family would be brutal but I sometimes feel like I missed out by not joining the military. It’s a big commitment. I’m 27, have a graduate degree and a good job, no wife, and could probably still try it and come out relatively fine but it’s a really hard decision. Huge respect for all the sacrifices these guys made

I was fortunate enough to get attached to JSOC in Iraq. Every delta guy I met was named mike and wore a white polo and tan khakis with Oakley boots. These guys were absolute savages and taught us a wealth of information you don’t learn in regular line units.

I had the pleasure of pruning an orchard for a Delta guy that was in Mogadishu. At his age his knees and what not were pretty banged up from all the jumps in training and whatever else. I remember telling him "don't be a hero" after he was trying to do some things after having a surgery. "Oh, I'm no hero." I just told him "I beg to differ, sir."

You know, I gotta say, when I first saw a vid of Dale Comstock, I didn't take him seriously, even made fun for the claims of such tier one workings. For some reason I overlooked the obvious and thought "this guy's got all the signs of a poser"... But boy was I wrong. I cannot locate the original post to that video, and I wanted to somehow express my support for Dale and the 82nd. This what I got for judging a book without even paying attention. Dale is one of the pioneers of Spec Ops as we know it in this 21st Century. All the best.

It’s interesting to hear him talk. He says some things that make me scratch my head though. The part where all of the infantry guys were gone for Christmas, so they had clerks and cooks as their outer cordon seems unlikely. Also, he said they took no casualties, but then went on to say that they had several people injured. Casualty encompasses both killed and injured, which is definitely something he would know. Calling in casualties is part of a LACE report, which certainly he would have done a lot of those and would have to know what a casualty is to call them in correctly.

I was in the Army as a 19K tank gunner from 01 to 06 and never seen any Delta Force. I got to work with Special Forces, Navy SEALs, Army Rangers (because everyone needs tanks) but never Delta, I’m starting to think they’re a very small unit/group of about 50 to 100 soldiers, that would explain their ability to fly under the radar.

I spent 6 years in the Army and was deployed twice. Second deployment my platoon was basically an escort team for some us government officials and every so often they would have some pretty serious looking dudes in plain clothes with them and we always wondered if those guys were delta. I was impressed at their ability to look so calm and collected, definitely not normal government guys.

They both do counter terrorism, hostage rescue, special reconnaissance, and direct action (short-duration strikes or small-scale offensive actions), against high-value targets. Delta were form in 1977 and ST6 in 1980 due to the failed Eagle Claw mission in 1980. The difference is Seals do more premier maritime training (ocean). You don't compare BUDS to Delta selection training. You compare it to Green Team (Devgru selection) since both are identical and it's for tier 1.

@@deathfire096 For land warfare and CQB I’d pick Delta any day of the week. Better shooters, more disciplined, more skilled in ‘soldiering’. Devgru clearly have their own skillset and you’d pick them for any maritime related missions but they have serious cultural shortcomings.

They don’t share their shooting scores to the public or any detail part of it. Seal Team 6 was formed due to the shortcomings of Delta. “Soldiering” Wtf is that? 😂. That’s like saying Seals are better because they are better “sailoring”. Seal Team 6 cover more ground since they do land and sea and the world is 75% ocean and 25% land. No Delta In the Fleet.
