Whenever you buy used bikes with extra gadgets wired, always completely remove them. My first bike came with lights under it & they drained the battery even when turned off. After the battery would no longer hold a charge I took it for service for something unrelated & they explained the ground was bad, & removed a mile long jury rigged "harness" for the aftermarket lights. Congratulations on your new bike!

Good to see a young man learning how to wrench... it is becoming a lost art. Instead of fixing things, this younger generation throws it away for a new one. Looks fantastic. Good stuff :-)

I got a 04 aero a few years ago. First thing I did is to take off the windshield and give her a thorough bath and wax too. Then the backrest came off and the fog/passing lights went on later got new mirrors and I am done.(that is what I keep telling myself) I left the foot boards, heel toe shifter, engine guard and the pillion and luggage rack because they are too useful to me. Mine is the purple and black paint version very, striking. She is in bed for the winter.... I miss her!

I just consider the extras as free bonuses or cheaper additions I can always take off. They are not deal breakers at all for me, and sometimes very welcome. Like the bonus of a windshield, or sissy bar, or rack. A lot of times I'll see an add on and never knew it existed, and then go searching for the new after market part on ebay. That said, I don't add much to my bikes except things to expand their cargo carry capacity.

Please don't call it a starter bike. It's deserves better that that. I started riding Harley''s when I was 15 and I'm 68 now. None of the many Harley's I rode back in the day could touch a shadow. I remember if you put those plastic saddle bags on your bike you were not right in the head. It and gypsy leather was not cool. I've rode shadows up in the mountains, on switch backs, across the painted desert and week long rides. They aren't gold wings but if you want a Winnebago with two wheels, cool for you. Plus you can mod this bike to look like anything you can think of they just don't cost a fortune. Triple the cost on one and everyone would be talking about this great touring beast called a shadow. I had to leave the Harley and big bike days behind. Got that annoying cancer and with one lung,, hard to pick up a bike on your own. So I got into restoring a bike from my college days. 1975 Honda CB 360t that I took down to zero and restored everything. including all bearings shocks, electrical, shocks, elec ignit. and so on. Took it to my first show ever (small town car show) and won best in show. So that's what I'm going to do. Ride it around town and take it to shows in the covered trailer I bought just for that. It will hold 3 bikes. I don't take the 75 out for long rides. Not a single flaw in the beautiful paint or anything else. It's perfect and I did everything by hand and KZbin. Ha. truck load of 0000 and elbow grease. Took 6 years because when they took my lung I was in and out of hospitals for 2 years and 7 surgeries but I got it done. Now I need a bike like a shadow. It's the right size and I can load it to take along with trips for ride arounds. May take the wife to sturgis when the party's over. Ha. I do my home work. The shadow is solid regardless of the model. I can go with my friends on a weekend ride or even longer with this bike and if I do something stupid and lay it over, I can still get it up (but not in a good way.....Ha). Love to see you guys working on one together. the one I'm looking at tomorrow has a lot of stickers and stuff that I will remove and have a matching quality paint job that will match my cb360t. I subbed your channel and hope you have a lot more content because this was good.

I've got an 09 Arrow that looks identical to that one. Mine has about 18,000 Mi on it and I'm getting ready to rip the front end off and work on the forks. I bought it with 14,000 Mi on it and I don't think it had any oil in the shocks when I bought it. I'll find out next week. I love my bike though. For the money it was hard to beat. Everyone says those 750s aren't good on the interstate. I can pass everybody on the Road! It's no rocket by far but it'll get you from point A to point B and feeling pretty good about it too. I may end up with Ape hangers on mine when I get it stabilized.

That's a nice bike. I'm partial to Hondas, riding one now, had them for years. May be a good idea to change the coolant in addition to the oil. He may also want to install some bar risers to raise the handlebars a bit for smoother handling. Many aftermarkets carry them for that bike. I had mini-apes on my CB750. Be careful though, John, that bike is bullet-proof and you may just not want to get off it once you cruise on that light bike with the low CG. 🥰

Come on you had to take the AAA sticker off that gave the bike some character 😂 . I didn’t know NJ had no bike inspection. We have them here in Mass but sticker goes on the plate and not on the bike at least. Chrome engine guard will tie everything together nice work de cluttering it. Bike looks a lot sharper now. Ride safe ✌🏼
