In a pair of cases from 1967 and 1982, Indigenous mothers were allegedly told by staff at hospitals their babies had died shortly after birth - but years later there are indications both of these infants may have lived.

The most terrifying things have been constantly uncovered. These sickening criminal acts keep getting swept under the rug. I pray for justice for the families and their stolen children. Incomprehensible what has been done to indigenous peoples. This must end!

To Melvina Bear- if you see this message and don’t receive satisfaction soon from the organizations that are supposed to be helping you then use the internet, send out mass messages to native people on facebook. Something along the lines of “were you adopted, do you know someone that was adopted around this time, we are searching for my son, this is his age, and his birth name was this, he was born here, if you think this might be you please contact us”. Might be a waste of time, might not be. (I hope i spelled your name right, apologies if i didn’t)

Why haven’t the police gone in with a search warrant to check the records? When they said the one baby that supposedly died had applied for a status card when he turned 18 and she asked where the card was sent and was told, we can’t tell you that. If the police had a search warrant they would have to tell the police. Go to the police department and put in a missing persons report, force their hand, this is crazy. All i have heard is talk, talk, talk, where is the action? All these native organizations, the police, the medical establishment, DO something already. I guess they figure if they all drag their heels long enough it will just go away.

Yes 100% - how can they know he applied for a status card and can’t get in contact with him- this is all about protecting themselves. There is no words for this.

It’s so difficult to trust the health & law system especially when they are investigating themselves. Plz help us to do what’s right for my parents and others. This is abduction and criminal negligence that happened here in Canada.

This makes me sick. The thought of my mother being told that her baby had died and then stolen away makes me nauseous. If this was happening to white ladies, there would have been a huge uproar and scandal about it but instead this happens in darkness and silence and it was all legal at the time. Disgusting

It has happened to white ladys numerous times, unwed mothers and illegitimate children have never had the same rights as married woman and legitimate children. The Madeline Laundry’s in Ireland are one giant example. Who knows how many unwed Mothers homes are still out there now, I know of a “Catholic” unwed Mothers home right here in Boston right now in 2023!

lol the uneducated hurts the head. This happened to white women to lots of them. Did you know that if you were unwed back in the day and pregnant you were put in a place away from everyone till the child was born then either told it died or it was just taken and given for adoption? Ya only natives suffer only natives wow just wow lol If natives would stop for one min and use a brain cell they would know ALL WOMEN in Canada are treated horrible and mabe instead of hating whites they could,d come together to stop it. No just keep acting a fool and say only natives suffer. Insanity do some research you have the internet use it

You would think that an agency named " indigenous services" would be helpful to indigenous people. They're not there to help her, but to keep her in the dark. They know exactly what happened to her.

I really hope these families are reunited in person or at least info given as to what happened to the newborns and those who are responsible are held accountable. This needs to be investigated with transparency for ALL Canadians to know about. The cruel and inhumane treatment these women and others have had to endure is horrific and I hope they are able to get the answers they so justly deserve!!!

As a mother myself, I can't imagine the pain they have suffered. If they were white babies, there would have been such an uproar that everyone was involved in. I pray all the women will find their children. They are probably grown up now, but I hope the mothers know that it won't matter because blood is blood! Have faith and trust that you will have been heard and supported. I thank you for speaking up! ❤ 🎉

When my mother inlaw (1/2 native) wad taken from her father and 20 something siblings, it was after her white mother died. They claimed her full native fathet was insane and put all of the children in "schools" and they were not allowdto use their language or were allowed no contact with her father or other siblings or alloed to know her hisstory. She married a witee man and had my husband who is concidered white. I married him and had three children who are blond haired and blue eyed white. Because there grandmother was not allowed any information on the native blood line. She was never allowed or able to prove her 1/2 native blood and this carries down to my children. I hate being white and what we have done to a fine historacle people and what has happened to the childrens children.😢

It is shocking and utterly unbelievable but this kind of abuse of indigenous people happened in Canada's past and it is one thing that makes me ashamed of being a Canadian. However I can separate government bodies from individual people and know that I as all other Canadian citizens find this treatment of indigenous people to be absolutely criminal and abhorrent. My family are not Indigenous but I had been removed from my family's home due to Ally of abuse that had never occurred. A lie told by a family member who is clearly not mentally well at the time. But due to overwhelming evidence and support that I came from a healthy and loving family which I did I was still removed. My parents fought very hard with good lawyers to to get me back and luckily they were able to do so. But these Mothers lost so much more than we could imagine. Not only did they lose their children and we're horrifically lied too but they lost their humanity in the eyes of their own country. My heart goes out to everyone affected by racism towards Indigenous people. You are important, you are worthy and all Indigenous Lives Matter. ❤

Stupid comparison. The unvaxxed were allowed to be unvaxxed, they didn’t need someone to defend them, they still had their rights. Did they really expect people to jump up and say, yes this is what we need, people that don’t get vaccinated so that the virus never goes away, good job people.?

Its not going to get legacy media coverage because the government doesn't want anymore people having distrust or hate for the system that all races are subject too. The main body pushing for racial divide in this nation is the federal government threw tools like cbc. The notion of Canadians unifying as one really disturbs the ruling class.

If a doctor says no what are you supposed to do? You’re in a hospital surrounded by people bullying you and looking down on you. Its not like today where you can speak to the administrator and hope for some help or call the police as a worst case scenario. Who knows what story they would spin for the police? Plus whose first thought is that their child isn’t dead? Whatever excuse they give you when you are in that state you are likely to believe.

So many people seem to feel “This didn’t happen to me or anyone I know, so it couldn’t happen”. Even in the early 2000s it’s been verified that native women in Canada were threatened with having their children removed by CPS if they didn’t agree to being sterilized before discharged after giving birth. I think of this going on when I fought tooth and nail to have my tubal ligation back in the day. Had to see several psychiatrists AND have my now ex husband’s permission, while my native sisters, some as young as 8, were being sterilized without knowledge or consent. For white women it is forced birth. For natives it is another form of genocide. But hey, it didn’t happen to you so it’s “fishy”? Please sit down and be quiet until you do some research.
