The one it was hammering was my childhood home. We lived there till I was 20. That home has been there over 100 years. The blizzard of 78 was pretty bad though 150mph winds, it was insane!

@@georgemousmoules2173 I know your comment is a year old but heres the actual top windgusts recorded. A peak wind gust of 113 mph in Truro, along with 103 mph (166 km/h) in Duxbury. Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts reported a wind gust to 94 mph, and Scituate reported a gust of 87 mph. This nor'easter was NOT normal.

The taxpayers of Massachusetts end up subsidizing some of the cost to repair these homes that should be purchased by the state for fair value and demolished. These same groups of houses that are shown during every nor'easter on TV and KZbin will continue to be shown every year and often multiple times per year. They are facing northeast on an exposed beach at sea level; the expense of purchasing the homes would be less that what is spent on repairing them year after year. Other houses nearby are built upon tall cliffs so they don't experience the same damage. Give this property back to the ocean where it belongs.
