I used to hate them, but the appearance has kind of grown on me. I'd definitely drive one because the 4.6/5.4 2 valve are amazing engines but it wouldn't be my first choice. Unfortunately a lot of them, like a lot of good trucks, ended up with these types of people that beat on them, or high school kids and they've all been ragged out.

@@PathwayPrivate I loved mine. Grandpa passed away and my grandma kept it and gave it to me when i turned 16. drove it till i was 20. 2 years into my army contract, i walk out of my barracks one day and find it on bricks. someone stole the tires, wheels, and my bumper. in the process, they jacked it up by the drive shaft, causing it to snap. had to scrap it as i didnt have the money to fix it up and i already had a newer truck that was more practical. still miss it though.

Regarding the plug being rough coming out in the beginning, don’t really worry about it. I work on cars and doing oil changes, over half of all fords from this era just don’t want the plug to come out. I’ve never seen that be a culprit of a leak but it just makes a mess when you take it out since oil starts to drain as soon as it’s remotely loose

Ford should of never used 5W20. Blend on the 5.4. 10W30 is the lowest rating I would ever go. Ford used 5W20 for better gas mileage reason's. Plus come on Man. 5 years between oil changes. That's not how to treat a Ford truck. Shawn.

@@TheBarbellBandit Yes, I Agree on the 0w20 and the small areas the oil flows. But I hear Ford went with 5w20 for gas mileage. My 2005 Taurus SE 3.0 takes 5w20. But my 2017 2.0 turbocharged Escape takes 10w30. For heat reason's. So I went to full Synthetic oil on the Escape and use the Motorcraft blend on my Taurus 3.0 it's 16 years old. Still runs like a top and never uses any oil between oil changes. 175,000 going for 200,000 miles next. 3 sets of tires, 3 sets of brakes, all new brake lines, A/C unit, Anti freeze changed with new hoses and belt, Lower ball joints and a driver side CV shaft. Can't buy a new car now so I put this one back on the road again. Just went on a 150 mile round trip and got 28 mpg. Wow! That 3.0 Vulcan is a great motor. TO Bad Ford couldn't have made the Eco-boost better. Its crap! Ask me how I know! Shawn.

You shouldn't prefill your oil filter (most oil filter boxes even have a symbol telling you not to) and if you insist on prefilling you don't go through the middle hole, that's after the filter. The oil comes from the sump through the pump into the outer holes on the filter and to the engine from the larger middle hole.
