Yep, that transition is the only one that must have been made with actual map editing rather than just video editing, i think the game before HL2 is actually Day of Defeat: Source (idk, never played Day of Defeat), so it is possible

Lol, yeah. N64 games always struggled with framerates because they share the CPU for audio as well. (Which is why the game often dips to single digit framerates when there's too much sfx and explosion graphics all around. At least it's worth for that awesome music)

@@qartheros Seems like it was pretty rare. John Carmack was a pretty brilliant mind and kind of instantiated the genre, plus it was all premised on being able to "aim" in a 3D environment, which requires good hardware acceleration and smooth transitions. Best you could do was something like Duck Hunt. Imagine Might & Magic-style frames as you explore dungeons in a 3D environment but trying to aim. Change it to 25 degree angles for each frame I guess as you press on the WASD-Pad? 😁
