Sly, you have no IDEA how infuriatingly difficult Kings was on hard pre-patch. Mostly because the flame spheres did not have these grey warning zones, they'd just pop out of nowhere and take 15% of your hull each time. Now, MERCENARY... is essentially Ace of Aces for the entire campaign.

You know... if this game could have afforded to have cutscenes, it would defenitely helped to understand certain aspects of the story, like Crimson's spiral to madness, we can only guess that by some of the dialogues betwen the fights, but it is VERY subtle, for those who don't pay attention enough, the main antagonist is nothing more than a self-righteous dickhead at the end of the day. Like.... Ace Combat 4, Ace Combat X style of cutscenes with drawings or CGI made mixed with 2D drawings like in Joint Assault, (or the ones semi animated 2D cutscenes from the files of Dead By Deadlight) showing how someone like him goes insane, maybe some of the Peacekeeper members died during Berin Strait fight, and that made him piss off and go for xtreme solutions, and in the fight on Prospero, all his team members dies except him who is rescued by Fed recovery team, maybe he is in a hospital bed with some injuries as he recovers, then he recieves the news that all his squad members died and that devastates him, and what really sets him off is the news that the Fed are willing to announce a sease fire and withdraw from Cascadia, making all the war efforts and lifes sacrificed for nothing, showing him going full rogue, (kind of like Harvey Dent from the Batman Dark Knight movies) probabbly killing the commander of the Peacekeepers and stealing the PW-MK1 from Icarus Armories.

[Story Spoilers] My interpretation of what "The Deal" was and why the new Cascadian gov wants to apprehend Hitman team is pretty much this - in desperation, Stardust offered Hitman a Cordium Nuke, or something Cordium related. This is hinted at in the subsequent mission, where Prez (if present) will mention that she has doubts if this was the right call as "No one should have this power" and during Kings when C1 mentions that Monarch made the deal "for Cascadia's soul". We know Cascadia's rich in Cordium so that would make sense (doesn't explain how C1 knew about it, but it could just be his guess). Obviously the government would be worried about a merc with a nuke or other Cordium based device, especially since it's hinted Monarch was in Oceania, and thus they could be worried he'd hold a grudge and try to "restart" a Mercenary State.
