I'm an ex deputy, Private investigator and my advice is simple. Be honest, be yourself. Be friendly. They need a good personality as much as they do a guy who thinks on his/her feet. Stay traditional in your dress, don't be overly trendy. just remember that you will be working in a very structured and critiqued industry. Not the time to flashy or trendy. Leave your starbucks job interview at home. Your body language given off when seated will tell stories about you. JUST RELAX

In the process to transferring and leaving my current department. Your videos were a helpful refresher on how to interview with PDs.

@@InPursuit360 Perhaps make a video on interviews for current Police Officers interviewing for other PDs. A LOT of departments in IL hiring laterals and their interviews have been a different experience compared to entry-level interviews. Appreciate the response, stay safe

Awesome channel! You should do more scenario based questions

Good morning, I agree with being told to have a seat!!! Awesome info and appreciate your videos. I disagree with shaking hands. It's play by play in my experience. Smaller departments may prefer a more personable approach like shaking hands and looking them in the eye vs. larger departments/sheriff's/state/federal agencies. Know your audience I'd say would be appropriate.

Realistically, if you can't work at McDonald's as a manager then you can't work law enforcement. Both positions are authority dealing with people of all kind of background.

I noticed in this video for the tell us about yourself question, you said to talk about your experiences like what high school you went to and your extra curriculars and job experience but in a different video I believe for that same question, you said to respond with your good traits, should i do a mix of both?? For example, i was in police explorers and that program taught me the importance of team work and discipline.

Correct me if im wrong about assuming that you said that in a different video though

Ahhh, not a biggie. My ideas are just that. The most important thing is to be yourself. Keep trying and good luck.

Would you say a blue suit, white shirt, red tie is too much?

I have been in LE for a long time but have never been good at being the fashion police. I would say as long as it is professional you should be good. You should always be you and that should be good enough. If you are not yourself it will come out later and they will wonder what happened. Good luck, keep trying and stay safe

This may sound stupid but can i say something along the lines of. “I spend alot of my downtime playing video games and some of the things I learned while playing are communication between teammates, being able to adjust a strategy if our first plan doesn’t work, and getting to know a wide variety of individuals and learning how to communicate and deal with those individuals”

Sounds like a teenager, please do not say that. This is real life not a video game... during the interview and on the police job!
