Lea is from the Philippines and has been performing since she was 7. Lea became an international star at 18 starring in the original MISS SAIGON in London and then broadway at 20, winning every major theater award. She is 24 years old here - 1995. This is the 10th anniversary concert of LES MISERABLES. Lea was the first Asian/non-white person to play the part of Eponine on Broadway in 1993. She is the singing voice for 2 Disney princesses - Jasmine and Mulan. Lea has lots of great performances and I hope you check out more of them!!! Just a few of my favorites: Lea and Rachelle Ann Go singing “Movie In My Mind” at 25th anniversary concert of MISS SAIGON, Lea singing “Via Dolorosa”, Lea’s audition for MISS SAIGON (being taught a little bit of “Sun and Moon”), Lea and Josh Groban singing “The Prayer”. By the way, you almost got the pronunciation correct! Lea (LAY-ah) Salonga (Suh-LONG-guh).

I saw Lea live not too long ago at the Royal Albert Hall (where this performance was filmed all those years ago). She still sings flawlessly. And she makes it look effortless!

I was shocked by the fact that most of the crowd were a) fellow Filipinos who could probably see her plenty at home but appeared to have travelled to London just to see her (they were clearly tourists), and b) clearly OBSESSED with her. And I mean obsessed. All of which culminated in what happened to her recently on Broadway. That should never happen.

This performance is truly epic. Lea Salonga is THE Eponine, and although quite some time has passed since this performance, it is still unreached, and you will never listen to that song again without thinking of Lea's performance. Fantastic!

This is my first hearing. I had goosebumps too, 5:09 all along my back and arms to my legs. Her mastery. She had full control not only of her instrument, but of the whole theatre. And note-perfect. Sabina, the first time I heard this was about a year ago and, like you, I could hardly believe what I just listened to. Then, I did something very extraordinary. After listening to Lea sing this at about dinner time (6pm) I wanted so much to hear how other reactors would react to her. Well, I listened to about 40 or 50 of them (!!!) and only when I saw the sun starting to peek over the horizon (about 6am !!!) did I decide, "I better get some sleep!" Yes, I listened to her sing this for 12 hours straight. Btw, she also began her on Broadway career when she auditioned for a role in Miss Saigon. There is a video where she meets the organizers of the Show (when she was about 17) and sings a song from the Show with one of the 'big deals' there playing the piano for her while the others listened. After listening to this can you imagine what her audition was like and the reaction from the Show's musical decision makers? Play it. I know you and your audience will love it.

This is from THE TENTH ANNIVERARY CONCERT. It aired over the local PBS station years ago & I COULDN'T TURN IT OFF, BUT BECAME INTATUATED WITH Lea & the rest of the cast. I immediately bought tickets for the roadshow tour which was appearing in San Francisco. I FINALLY GOT TO SEE Lea when she appeared several years ago at a casino in northern CA. IN FACT , SHE'LL BE HERE AGAIN IN ABOUT 3 MORE WEEKS, BUT SADLY.......THE TCKETS SOLD OUT AS SOON AS THEY WENT ON SALE.

I’ve seen the musical 3 times in the west end…I weep from start to finish. Leas performance here is outstanding and takes my breath away!! Thank you for the way you do your reaction videos and don’t talk over the songs I really enjoy watching them. One of my favourites by you is Paolo Nutini iron sky.. You really need to check out Esang. She was on the voice kids ( Philippines ) and ended up on Lea's team. Although she didn't win Lea took her under her wing and whilst she was amazing then she is incredible now.
