Nice reaction, thanks. This was the first music video in the history. Did you realize, that Freddie was harmonizing with himself in the first part? You are, right he was full of passion and nobody can deliver emotions as he did. Pls, check out You Take My Breath Away at Hyde Park 76. Just Freddie and the piano, it's amazing.

Freddie wrote and arranged this song (except for Brian's guitar solo). The opening section of this song where the video shows the 4 of them singing in the uplighting formation is misleading. The truth is that only Freddie is singing. He laid down 5 different tracks, harmonizing with himself. Freddie never explained this song to anyone including his bandmates (who never asked what he meant). The only thing Freddie admitted is that he was writing 3 different songs but couldn't seem to finish any of them. Then he got the idea to just mash them together adding some bridges and transitions to make one song.

Great reaction! Freddie Mercury had many different voices, he could adapt his voice to any style and genre. The song is a journey because it is written like an tragic opera aria. The song goes through the 5 stages of grieve and it tells the story of a young who killed someone, and now he has to face the consequences of his actions. The middle section is a trial for his soul between heaven and hell. Of course many people believe there might some deeper meaning to the song. For another amazing song and performance check Save Me live in Montreal 1981. For another masterpiece check out Innuendo from Queen.

"What, that's it? I thought it was going to be longer." XD Fun fact, they had a hard time getting a company to release this song for them because it was "Too long and no radio station would play a song that was 6 minutes long" That was proven incorrect after they did get it out there and it was such a hit.
@pjftoo75883 жыл бұрын
Great reaction to a classic song. The record company didn't want to release it as a single, the critics hated it, and it still became the signature song of Queen and the 70's in general. The 1985 Live Aid performances are all really good too. Freddy at his peak, before he started to become seriously ill. Another couple of unrelated reaction rec's, if you haven't seen them: Dimash Kudaibergen. Arguably the greatest vocalist in the world today. One of, at the very least. A good start would be his breakout 2017 song, SOS on the Chinese show, Singer, if you want to try. Marcelito Pomoy's amazing cover of, The Prayer, in the Wish studio. Another great Filipino singer and sometime collaborator with Morissette.

You said you expected this song to be longer than it is, but when it came out, most artists weren't making songs this long, and most radio stations weren't playing songs this long. The standard song length was about 3 to 3.5 minutes at the time "Bohemian Rhapsody" was released. Queen basically threw out all the rules and did their own thing, resulting in a lot of very unique music, including some hits that everybody knows even if they don't realize that it was Queen who sang them - for example, two of their songs that are most known today for being sung at live sporting events - "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions". They made music together for close to two decades, so they have an absolutely massive catalog of music to explore. A lot of people on here are recommending live performances to watch, but my recommendation would be to watch the official studio versions of those songs first and THEN watch the live performances. It makes the live versions all the more impressive when you hear them in that order. I think Queen will take you on a wonderful musical journey if you continue reacting to their music.

To have some explanation to the song we have to know it’s written by Freddie Mercury the lead vocalist of the band as the song starts with his struggle in life then comes his conversation with his mother rather calmly saying he killed the old him and now he is a new man (referring to his transition from a straight guy to bisexual) which he is in reality (he died of AIDS many years after that) then comes the opera section where Freddie is here referring to his old self as a silhouette and to Scaramouche (a clown character from Italian traditional theatre who often wore a mask and who was a rascal) then we hear Galileo who is an Italian physicist and astronomer who made the first telescope and viewed planet mercury through it (hence his name is Freddie Mercury) then there is the verse “Bismelah” which is an Arabic word for “in the name of God” in which he refers to the Muslim majority in his native country and the oppression made to the minority Zoroastrian (an Iranian religion) Freddie is pleading to be let go to live his life and be who he is.. the operatic section ends, the mood shifts and the expression here is of anger. The song becomes very heavy and Freddie is referring to someone stoning him and spitting on him.. In the final line of the song, Freddie states that he is at the whim of the wind. In other words, he isn’t in control of his own life.. there are more lyrics that I didn’t explain as it needs a whole book to write but it’s a very complicated song not just musically but lyrically 😅

Greetings from Vancouver 🇨🇦 Just discovered your channel, very much enjoyed your commentary and glad you enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody. I have a different opinion about modern music basically it’s nothing like it was I don’t see a lot of talent out there I see a lot of substance created from a laptop and then autotune, back in the classic rock days from the 60s through to the 90s real instruments were used and for the most part autotune didn’t exist. Lyrically, older songs have much more substance as they don’t speak to narcissistic tendencies, the degradation of women, and other disturbing parts of inner-city life. Is incredibly rare these days to come across a song that actually has substance and is created with a real music instruments and without autotune, I wholeheartedly applaud those that do and I hope one day it will become the norm rather than as a rarity it is May peace and love be yours, keep up the good work and I’ll keep watching your content,

Nice reaction to a brilliant band and a brilliant song. Other lesser known, but seriously great, Queen songs to react to are Flash and Princes Of The Universe. Another great artist with real passion to check out would be Stevie Ray Vaughan. A great place to start would be his performance of Texas Flood, live at the El Mocambo theatre. And speaking of passion, try out Chris Stapleton singing Cold (live at the Bing Lounge is the best version), or A Man's Man's World, live with the Shadowboxers, or the audio version of Tennessee Whiskey. If you want a video that will REALLY touch you, try the official video of James Blunt singing Monsters (and yes, that is his real dad in the video). These are just a few suggestions. If you like them, I have several more. :)

Welcome to the "Rabbit Hole" that is Queen and their music. Come go further down and find more lovely gems of a icon Freddie Mercury. If you want something to react to I have a couple for you one is from Queen Fat Bottom Girls, the other is something a bit different. This one is from the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the pieces of music is from the movie the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. They match the music to near perfection. Here is the link to the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5_YgHSoesukfdE It is a bit different as it is a classical type format but it is also original movie scores from the movie of the same name made in 1966.
